Summary Statement: State the major function(s) of the position and its role in the university. The Athletics Compliance Services unit is responsible for tracking and monitoring the University of Nevada, Reno’s Intercollegiate Athletics (ICA) academics compliance program as outlined by the National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA) and appropriate conference rules for studentathletes, coaches, athletics staff and administration, donors, and the University community. Incumbents are responsible for managing the rules education program for ICA and all institutional staff members. The positions report to the Associate Athletics Director, Compliance. Range 2 - Director: The Director is responsible for tracking and monitoring the University’s procedures for athletics scholarships, coordinating athletic conference documentation for NCAA funds and compliance paperwork and interpreting NCAA and conference rules for those individuals covered above. The position assists with the preliminary investigations for suspected NCAA and conference rules violations, tracking and monitoring recruitment and retention policy, supervising student interns, and coordinating clerical responsibilities to ensure all compliance procedures are properly documented. The Director assists with the rules education program of covered individuals. Range 3 – Assistant Athletics Director (in addition to R2 duties above): The Assistant Athletics Director, Compliance, is responsible for managing the compliance and education component of the Athletics Academic and Compliance Program. The incumbent ensures NCAA and athletic conference documentation required for Division I status and for NCAA, conference, and internal and external auditors is up-to-date and accurate. The incumbent conducts initial investigations for suspected rules violations and submits reports to the Associate Athletics Director. The position tracks and monitors recruitment and retention policies and supervises student interns. The incumbent tracks and monitors the University’s procedures for athletics scholarships, overseeing athletic conference documentation for NCAA funds and compliance paperwork, and interpreting NCAA and conference rules for ICA and campus community. The position acts as a contact with high schools and other universities on issues related to athletics academics and compliance. 2.
