1. Summary Statement: State the major function(s) of the position and its role in the
university. Attach an organizational chart with positions, ranges, and names for the division
which reflects the position in it as well as those supervised in the department. (This section is
used for advertisement of the position.)
The PeopleSoft EPM Administrator is responsible for managing the PeopleSoft Enterprise Performance
Management (EPM) infrastructure, providing routine technical administrative support for servers,
developing computer scripts and applications, and documenting procedures and server configuration
information. The EPM Administrator reports to the Manager, Information and Database Administration in
Information Technology.
2. List the major responsibilities, including percentage of time devoted to each. Provide
enough detail to enable a person outside the department to understand the job (percentage
first with heading and then bulleted information).
50% - Data and Report Analysis
 Develop reports & dashboards using Oracle Business Intelligence (OBIEE)
 Create new or modify existing extract, transform and load (ETL) jobs in Ascential DataStage
per design specifications
 Document all code changes and adhere and follow development standards
30% - EPM and Data Warehouse Administration
 Manage and execute systems installations, upgrades, and patches for PeopleSoft EPM
 Maintain server security for Oracle Weblogic including SSL certificate installation and
configuration
 Plan and test patches and new releases to all Business Intelligence tools
 Administer business intelligence and other systems (e.g. OBIEE and InfoSphere DataStage)
 Coordinate with Security Administrator on EPM/OBIEE Security
20% - System Administration
 Manage application infrastructure to help assure smooth operations of the Enterprise
Resource Planning (ERP) software environment
 Manage and execute systems installations, upgrades, and patches for multiple application
environments
 Balance online and concurrent processing to help maximize system performance in
coordination with the database administrator(s)
 Meet overall objectives and contribute to the smooth operations of the ERP applications and
related systems
 Identify problem areas in the process and work with the team to generate solutions
 Configure, monitor, tune, and troubleshoot the systems technical environment on an ongoing
basis
 Work with System Computing Services management and technical staff (host hardware) to
solve hardware, operating system, and performance issues
3. Describe the level of freedom to take action and make decisions with or without
supervision and how the results of the work performed impact the department, division and/or
the university as a whole.
Level of Freedom:
The PeopleSoft EPM Administrator is responsible for the setup, configuration, and maintenance of the
EPM PeopleSoft infrastructure. Within established protocols and PeopleSoft best practices, autonomy

and independent action are required to work effectively with System Computing Services, where the
hardware is housed. The EPM administrator makes decisions in the day-to-day activities related to
security, managing systems at high performance levels and ensuring reliability. The Manager,
Information and Database Administration is consulted regarding ongoing issues, concerns and
recommendations regarding equipment and/or software purchases.
Impact:
Decisions affect the stability, performance, and integrity of the system, having long reaching effects
for the entire student body. Daily administration of the system affects faculty and staff throughout the
university. If the EPM Administrator is not performing their duties then access to business
intelligence data will be impaired. Deans and executive leadership rely on this data in their strategic
and operational planning.
4. Describe the knowledge, skills (to include cognitive requirement and verbal and written
communication), and abilities (to include task complexity, problem solving, creativity and
innovation) essential to successful performance of this job (in bullet format).
Knowledge of:
 EPM System Architecture
 ETL tools (DataStage, Informatica or Oracle Data Integrator)
 Development and enforcement of standards and procedures
 People Tools
 Shell scripting on various platforms
 Quest STAT
 SQR and SQL
 PeopleSoft data structures, configuration and setup designs, and business processes within
the ETL/EPM/OBIEE modules and strong understanding of tables/record
Skills:
 Implementation, monitoring, and maintenance in multiple PeopleSoft environments to ensure
proper functioning of the systems

 Strong understanding of tables/record definitions and ability to write SQL
 PeopleSoft applications and tools patches, bundles, updates, and upgrades
 Working with technical groups for technical troubleshooting and tuning for PeopleSoft
Infrastructure components
