LAB POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
1-
Please be on time!
2-
You are expected to attend every lab session – failure to do so may cause your
name to be dropped from the roster!
Students are expected to work in groups for the lab portion of the course.
All group members are expected to design, build, and troubleshoot their own
circuits and to actively contribute to the completion of projects and other
assigned tasks. Each group will submit one lab report at the beginning of
the next lab session (usually one week later).
3-
Please turn off all cellular phones, iPods, Blackberries, etc. when you
come to lab.
4-
Each student is required to maintain a lab notebook. See the separate handout.
5-
Preliminary work will be required for each individual student and will generally
be collected at the class before each lab session, unless otherwise announced –
the preliminary work is your ticket of admission to the lab – you cannot
begin the experiment unless your preliminary work has been approved by
the instructor or TA! Failure to produce the preliminary work will result in
having to make up the experiment on your own time!
Preliminary Work must be submitted from your lab notebook.
6-
No food, drinks, or smoking are allowed in the lab. If you want to take a break
for a snack or a soda, that’s fine. Be sure to de-energize your circuits before you
leave – use the lounge area just down the hall.
7-
As you prepare to leave the lab, please clean up your workspace. Be sure to
return any parts to the cabinets or bench at the front of the lab or to the stock room.
Don’t forget to take any calculators, memory sticks, tools, or leads that belong to
you. Make sure that your equipment has been turned off and returned to its original
position and that the benchtop is free of any loose parts or paper. Please dispose
of paper, wire insulation, etc. in the container at the front of the lab.
