Notice of Intent
21st Century Community Learning Center
The LSU College of Human Sciences and Education has submitted a
proposal to the Louisiana Department of Education, in conjunction with
area schools, to create a 21st Century Community Learning Center on
this campus.
The mission of the program is to provide academic enrichment and
remediation to high school students, while creating a college-going
experience for them. The LSYOU 21st CCLC will include a middle
school math (STEM) club through a partnership with the LSU
Mathematics department; a high school environmental science (STEM)
program through a partnership with the LSU College of Coast and
Environment; and a high school remediation, tutoring and credit
recovery program aligned with the core standards of the high school
subjects in which the students are enrolled.
The students will be selected from the following high schools: Capitol
Friendship Academy, West Feliciana High School, Baton Rouge High,
Lee High School, Scotlandville, and Woodlawn High School. Selection
criteria vary by program activity.
A complete copy of the proposal is available upon request.
