Suggested Procedure for
a Presentation Using a Dialogue
1.
Select or write a suitable dialogue, make sure it is appropriate to
the language aim of your lesson;
2.
Relate students to the context of the dialogue;
3.
Build up the context( set scene) with pre teaching of vocabulary if
necessary;
4.
Check students understanding of the context;
5.
Create need to elicit target language;
6.
Give students a pre set question to listen out for target language;

7.
Read the dialogue out in an interesting way;
8.
Check pre set questions;
9.
Check students’ understanding of the context by asking
comprehension questions;
10.
Divide class in halves to repeat the dialogue line by line with the
help of prompts on w/b;
11.
Round up;
12.
Follow up.

Suggested Procedure for Pair/Group Work
1.
Teacher prepares hand outs, cards, etc and checks s/he
understands how they work : if necessary, actually “try it out” with
another teacher;
2.
Pre teach any new vocabulary;
3.
Set the scene;
4.
Give clear instruction;
5.
Give a clear model using a student;
6.
Give the activity a final purpose;

7.
Start the activity;
8.
Check students are doing the activity correctly and producing the
target language correctly;
9.
Monitor students individual and class problems which need
remedial work;
10.
Stop the activity before it becomes boring;
11.
Tie up the activity with a short checking session;
12.
Ask for students’ reactions :
(1) did they enjoy it ?;
(2). Did they think it was good for their language ?
