ItisintenMonallyengaginginacourseofconductdirectedataspecificpersonthat:

ofthatperson,amemberofthatperson’simmediatefamilyorathirdpartywith
whomthatpersonisacquainted;or
•  causesmaterialharmtothementaloremoMonalstateofsuchperson,wheresuch
conductconsistsoffollowing,telephoningoriniMaMngcommunicaMonorcontact
withsuchperson,amemberoftheperson’sfamilyorathirdpartywithwhomthe
personisacquainted;or
•  islikelytocausesuchpersontoreasonablyfearthather/hisemployment,
businessorcareeristhreatened,whensuchconductconsistsofappearing,
telephoningoriniMaMngcommunicaMonorcontactatsuchperson’splaceof
employmentorbusiness,andtheactorwaspreviouslyclearlyinstructedtostop.
SpecificacMons,suchassendingabirthdaycardorstandingacrossthestreetfrom
someone’shousemaybelegal,butiftheyarepartofaseriesofacMonsthatcause
fearordistress,theymaybeillegal.
Stalkingincludescyber-stalking–usingelectronicformsofcommunicaMon,including
socialmedia,toengageintheconductdescribedabove.
StalkingdoesnothavetobesexualinnaturetoconsMtutesexualviolence.

behaviorthatcanincludephysical,psychological,sexual,

inMmidate,humiliate,isolate,frighten,coerce,threaten,
blameorhurtsomeone.
•  Itcanalsoconsistofasingleincidentofsexualassault.
•  Rapeoranysexualoffense,whetheronadateornot,orby
someoneyouknowordonotknow,isthesamecriminal
offense.
•  Between80and90percentofallpeoplewhohavebeen
