The Digital Poetry Write­Up: Exploring and Explaining Your Choices In this 4‐6 page write‐up you should explain the process behind your digital poem. Using an informal voice—you talking to your audience clearly—you should explore and explain the choices you’ve made along the way while creating this digital poem. Questions to consider include: • • • • • How did you come up with the poem that you ended up with? Explain where your ideas came from and how you eventually settled on a final version of your poem. How did knowing from the outset that this poem would be “going digital” effect the writing of your poem? There are several major components related to working in a digital environment. Speak to each of these in terms of the choices you made while composing your digital poem: o Sound o Text o Images o Video o Transitions o Pacing Draw connections between this digital poetry project and the essays you have written. For example, how do the terms we traditionally apply to writing work within this digital environment? Example terms: Hook, Introduction, Transition, Conclusion, Thesis, Persuasion, Organization, etc. Come up with a few of your own terms that apply to both your digital poem and your essays. What were the difficulties of working in a digital environment (i.e., limitations) and what were the positives (i.e., the affordances)? Is your digital poem an example of writing, or is it something else?
