1. Introduction of ISO/TC204/WG16
• ISO/TC204/WG16 has 8 SWGs.
• Most of SWGs are discussing the wireless
•
communication and it’
it’s architecture.
SWG16.3’’s is focusing on the standardization
SWG16.3
activities on probe vehicle system.
SWG16.0 CALM Architecture
SWG16.1 CALM Media
SWG16.2 CALM Network Protocol
SWG16.3 Probe Vehicle System
SWG16.4 Application Management
SWG16.5 eCall
SWG16.6 CALM nonIP Mechanism
SWG16.7 Lawful Intercept and Security

2. Activities of SWG16.3
(1) DIS24100
• DIS24100 ‘Basic principles for personal data protection in probe
•
•
vehicle information services’
services’ defines the basic rules to be
observed by service providers who handle personal data in
probe vehicle information services
Currently DIS ballot is on going. (Ballot will be finalized on 2nd
March, 2009.
The principles defined in DIS24100 have consistency with
OECD guideline and more technical issues for probe vehicle
system are added.

(2) TS25114
• TS25114 ‘Probe data reporting management’
management’ defines the
•
•
•
message sent from center to vehicles.
The messages specify the rule of reporting probe data including
data specification, reporting frequency, conditions and so on.
TS25114 specification has also consistency with SAESAE-J2735.
This standard will be issued as TS in near future.

3) Send “wiper

(3) NP29284
• NP29284 ‘Event
Event--based probe data
data’’ specifies the probe data
•
•
•
format that is sent from vehicles depending on particular
events.
This standard defines the events including fog, snowfall,
accidents and so on.
NP29284 was approved as NP in Sept., 2008. (Y16, N0)
Comment resolution meeting will be held in Feb., 2009.
【Scope of NP29284】
NP29284】
• Event

– Does not deal with probe vehicle’

• Rely on common el

Positioning, etc)
• Extension of ISO

3. Data format of probe vehicle systems
Scope of the standardization
Probe data is the data sent from vehicle onon-board systems to
centers and other external systems.
Vehicle speed and other basic data elements in probe data are
called “probe data elements,”
elements,” and a compilation of multiple data
elements is called “probe message.”
message.”
“Probe message”
message” always contains position and time stamps.

3. Data format of probe vehicle systems
• ISO22837 specifies data formats of 30 and more kinds of probe
•
•
data elements including outside temperature, vehicle speed and
so on.
Data format is also described in XML.
SWG16.3 have had several liaison meetings with SAE groups
for consistency with SAESAE-J2735.

4. International cooperation for the future
• SWG16.3 focuses on probe vehicle systems and most
•
•
of the standardization activities are related with
application layer.
International cooperation will be needed for not only
communication media, but also application layer.
We need “table
table”” for exchanging information and
harmonization for application layer or data format.
