Different implementations of the same standard may not be interoperable. • Consortiums and organizations promoting either a technology or the associated services, define compliance requirements to foster product interoperability. • The process a product shall follow to achieve a Compliance Logo is defined in a Certification Programme. • Some Certification Programmes AT4 wireless’ Presentation © AT4 wireless 2009 Why a Certification Programme? Our vision for ITS Certification: A reliable and trusted Certification Programme for ITS products, based on third party testing and supported by a well recognized logo • A certification program should – … be tailored taking into account the specific needs for each consortium, technology or service. – … guarantee interoperability. – … not compromise the technology or service success in the market No ITS Certification Programme AT4 wireless’ Presentation © AT4 wireless 2009 ITS Certification Framework: SAFESPOT • Its purpose is to guarantee compliance to SAFESPOT Specifications and that SAFESPOT devices will be interoperable with other vendor equipments • It is independent of the products to be certified • It is based on GST-CERTECS work AT4 wireless’ Presentation © AT4 wireless 2009 ITS Certification Framework: SAFESPOT Process • • • • • • • • AT4 wireless’ Presentation Build the Certification Framework Establish the SAFESPOT Forum Develop a web site for repository of documents and certificates Develop certification Policy documents Develop Test Specifications Select a SAFESPOT Certification Administrator Select SAFESPOT Test Laboratories and SAFESPOT Certification Bodies Validate SAFESPOT Test Tools Run the certificate scheme. © AT4 wireless 2009 Global Testing Methodology Phase 1 What products are foressen to be tested? Phase 2 Type of Testing Phase 3 Extract Test Specifications Phase 4 Test Development AT4 wireless’ Presentation © AT4 wireless 2009 Phase 1: What do we need to certify in ITS? • Heterogeneous and distributed environment • Diversity applications and situations What are the proper functionalities to be certified? • It is depends on the ITS system; e.g. eCall is also working in defining its own certification • SAFESPOT decided to certify V2V&V2I interface and beaconing functionality AT4 wireless’ Presentation © AT4 wireless 2009 Phase 2: Type of testing for ITS What type of testing is needed for assuring safety? What type of testing is needed for getting trust in ITS? • It is depends on what type of functionality or product will be tested: protocol, electronic devices, GUI interface, application, user experiences, etc. • Interoperability must be always performed ETSI is currently defining a STF for standardizing a new methodology and framework for interoperability testing of Distributed System AT4 wireless’ Presentation © AT4 wireless 2009 Phase 3: Extracting Test Specifications Identifier: Id1 RFC Clause: RFC Y Type: Type of RQ Applies to: device 1 Requeriment: requeriment 1 RFC Text: RFC Text 1 1 Technical Specifications ATS Edition ATC Edition Interoperability Conformance Test Procedure Verdict Step 1 Pass Step 2 Tester IUT ... Infrastructure, user terminal, on board unit and services will benefit from standardization, certification and testing AT4 wireless’ Presentation © AT4 wireless 2009 Questions?
