Please note: Students who wish to apply for Clackamas Community College Scholarships in addition to the Sabin-­‐Schellenberg scholarships should complete the Clackamas Community College Scholarship application online at http://www.clackamas.edu/scholarships. If you do not attach all the items listed below, your eligibility for a
scholarship will be affected. Please attach in the following order:
1. This application form
2. An essay on “My Educational and Career goals” 500 words or less -- see additional
requirements below.
3. Your unofficial transcript, which you obtain from your counseling office.
4. Your resume
5. Two letters of recommendation (see notes below)
6. Copy of student SAR (if FAFSA has been completed)
Essay Requirements:
When you compose your essay on the topic “My educational and career goals,” consider your answers to
the following questions:
•
What are your short-term (next six months) and long-term (next five years) educational and
career goals? What role has your experience at SSC played in helping you determine these
goals?
•
What financial conditions and/or life circumstances contribute to your need for a scholarship?
•
What factors have led to your decision to continue your education after high school? Are there
people who have influenced your decision? How do you think continuing your education will affect
your life?
Here are some key points to remember when you are preparing this essay:
1. Your essay must be typed on clean, white paper.
2. Be sure spelling and punctuation is correct.
3. Pay attention to grammar and writing conventions.
4. Remember to tell us about YOU, your goals and motivations for your continuing education.
Letters of recommendation:
•
Letters of recommendation must be from teachers, counselors, employers, church officials, and
individuals in your field of interest or study, or others who can speak of your professional and/or
educational achievement.
•
Do not submit a letter from a family member.
•
Letters may also address characteristics such as motivation, leadership, and commitment.
•
