Marylin Arndt, FT-Orange, ETSI Smart M2M Chairman
Dr Marylin Arndt works at FT-Orange French integrated operator as Standardization
Manager in the domain of M2M and Internet of Things.
She is involved in internal development programs committees, providing her
experience for global coordination purposes and strategic guidelines in the domain.
At ETSI, she chairs the technical committee M2M since February 2013, and coordinates
ETSI participation into mainly Smart Metering and Smart Grid standardization mandates. She also
participates as an expert to workshops under preparation by the European commission.
(The well-known "20-20-20" directive is one of the important directives emitted by EC in its work
program).
Omar Elloumi, Alcatel-Lucent Bell Labs, oneM2M Technical Plenary Chair
Omar Elloumi is a Head of M2M and Smart Grid standards within Alcatel-Lucent CTO. He is
the recently elected chair of oneM2M Technical Plenary after having led the oneM2M
Architecture
group
delivering
the
first
release
of
specifications.
Omar joined Alcatel-Lucent in 1999 and held several positions including research, strategy
and system architecture. He holds a Ph. D. degree in computer science and served on the ATM
Forum and IPSphere Forum Board of Directors. Omar Elloumi is coeditor of books on M2M
communications and Internet of Things published in 2012. He is also involved in program
committees of several international conferences on M2M and IoT.
Francois Ennesser, Gemalto
François has been involved in security standardization activities since 1999, starting
with contributions to the definition of the multi-purpose "UICC" smartcard platform in
ETSI TC SCP. He participated to the definition of secure over-the-air protocols for
remote management in ETSI and TIA and was a leading contributor in the definition of
an enhanced communication interface for the UICC. He initiated and chaired the initial
Inter-Chip USB Working Group, which defined a low power embedded adaptation of the
USB interface within the USB Implementers Forum. He has been focusing on Machine to Machine
standardization since 2008 and is currently chairing the Security Working Group of the oneM2M
partnership Project. He contributes to EU level initiatives on Smart Grids with a focus on critical
infrastructure protection and privacy preservation. He holds a french Engineer's degree from ESIEE
and a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Southern California.
Raymond C.Forbes, Ericsson, oneM2M protocol WG Chair
Educated at Loughborough University of Technology between 1977 and 1984, Dr.
R.C.Forbes Ph.D. MBCS joined Plessey Telecommunications where he worked on
Software Engineering and Analysis. He is appointed as Vice Chairman of the ETSI TC
M2M and Working Group Chairman of the WG03 in oneM2M on M2M Protocols in the
global Standards Partnership Project. Also he is appointed as Leader of the M2M
Service Enablement & Utilities Standardization in LM Ericsson.

SeungMyeong Jeong, LG Electronics
SeungMyeong Jeong is an research engineer in LG Electronics CTO division. He received
a M.S degree in Computer Engineering and joined LG Electronics in 2011. He started
work in standardization organization in OMA. Now he’s an active member in oneM2M,
participating as a rapporteur of HTTP Binding TS. Also, he has been doing coordination
work among Korean member companies as the secretary of oneM2M Project Group in

Patricia Martigne, Smart Home & M2M Standardization Manager (ORANGE),
oneM2M WG5 (device Management, Abstraction&Semantics) Vice-Chair
Patricia Martigne is working in the Innovation, Marketing & Technology Division of
ORANGE, as a Standardization Manager for Smart Home, Smart City & M2M domains.
Her current role in M2M Standardization includes the coordination of activities around
Abstraction and Semantics, as a oneM2M WG5 vice-chair, and as an active contributor
to the Smart Home Task Force in HGI (Home Gateway Initiative), building the Smart
Home reference architecture.
She has been working in telecommunications companies for almost 20 year and more recently
in France Telecom R&D, first promoting new technologies such as Ultra Wide Band (in IEEE
802.15.4a), or cognitive radio, through actions to standardization and regulation bodies; then
working in the M2M domain, as an R&D Project Manager for elaboration of Home Automation proofs
of concept. She was also active in ETSI M2M Technical Committee, as the WG1 (Service
Requirements) Chair and the Rapporteur for the associated Specification.
Enrico Scarrone, Telecom Italia, Vice Chair Chairman of the Steering
Committee of oneM2M (representing ETSI), and Vice Chair ETSI TC smartM2M
ENRICO SCARRONE joined in CSELT (now Telecom Italia LAB), the R&D division of the
Telecom Italia Group in 1992.
He contributed to several main research projects and subsequently to several
standardization activities in ETSI, ITU-T, ATM Forum, 3GPP (SA, SA1, CT, RAN and
RAN), 3G.IP, including chairmanships in 3GPP and ETSI) in the fields of ATM,
signalling, mobile systems and their integration with IP.
Participation and promotion of several early studies on integration of IP and mobile cellular networks
has permitted to participate from the beginning to the work of 3G.IP, and indirectly to stimulate the
work on release 2000 in 3GPP about the all-IP solution and the Multimedia Network principles.
At the same time he was involved in in several Telecom Italia projects in technology planning and
selection, including network budget forecasts, RFI, RFQ and testing, mainly in the mobile and fixed
mobile convergence fields. This has allowed him to keep a strong link between real networks and
standardization/research. This includes roll out of GPRS, EDGE, UMTS, HSDPA, EV-DO, Fixed
broadband, FMC, IMS and other technologies in Austria, Spain, Greece, Turkey, Brasil, Peru’,
Indonesia, and technical consulting in several other countries. He is participating to 3GPP SA1,
dealing with service and operational requirements in 3GPP mobile systems, where served as
Chairman from 1996 to end 2011. He was also deeply involved in the foundation of ETSI TC M2M
(/where served as chairman from 2011 and 1012) and oneM2M, in charge of developing a global
multiservice system for M2M communications and Internet of Things,
He is also coordinator for M2M standardization in the Telecom Italia Technology and Operation
department.
Joerg Swetina, NEC Europe, oneM2M Requirements WG Vice Chair
Dr. SWETINA Studied Chemistry and Mathematics at the University of Vienna, Austria
and later conducted research in Theoretical Chemistry.
Moving from academia to industry he led a development team dealing with GSM call
processing and software testing at Siemens Austria. Since the early days of 3GPP he
had been representing Siemens and later Nokia Siemens Networks in standardization
bodies like ETSI SMG, 3GPP and OMA.
In 2008 he moved to NEC Europe in Heidelberg, Germany, continuing his work in standards. For
more than 4 years he had been vice chair of 3GPP SA1. His current field of interest additionally
covers Machine-to-Machine communication. He is active in ETSI TC M2M and has been a driver in
creating the 'oneM2M Global Initiative' organisation. Dr. Swetina is married and is living in Vienna
and Heidelberg.

Christophe Arnoult, Electricté Réseau Distribution France, Head of department:
"Large Projects and international”
Born in 1956, Christophe Arnoult graduated as a Civil Engineer of Mines in 1979. He
started his career with Procter and Gamble in Paris before joining EDF in 1980 as
planning engineer of the LV network in Paris.
He then held several positions in the operation division in the northern suburb of Paris and was called
in 1990 by the distribution Headquarters in Paris to lead a project aiming at improving the quality of
supply in large urban areas.
In 1993, he moved on to the international division of EDF as area manager for Northern Europe, in
charge of mergers and acquisitions before becoming in 1998 project manager for the setting up of
the energy trading subsidiary of EDF: EDF Trading.
In 2000, he became Chief Administrative Officer of EDF Trading, based in London. He held as well
the position of secretary of the Risk Committee. He was also member of the Board of Capcol, the
fossil fuel purchasing subsidiary of EDF.
Back to France in 2005, he became project manager to achieve a major reorganisation of the
logistics functions of the Mediterranean region. He is currently Head of the "Large Projects and
International" department at Electricité Réseau Distribution France (ERDF) in the Mediterranean
Region.
Duncan Bees, HGI
Since 2008, Duncan Bees has been the Chief Technology and Business Officer for the
HGI. He has overseen HGI’s launch of a successful test and logo programme along with
initiatives on energy efficiency, quality of service, software modularity, and home
networks. Currently he is working with HGI’s members on an in-home architecture to
support smart home services.
Previously Duncan worked at PMC-Sierra in Vancouver, leading systems teams in
broadband access, VoIP, voice quality, high-speed serial interfaces & switches, and representing PMC
at many industry bodies.
He also worked at Bell Northern Research (Nortel) in Montreal, where he managed DSP and
development teams in wireless speech processing, mobile data, and voice recognition systems.
He started his career at MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates as a ground stations engineer.
Duncan holds a Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from McGill University and a Bachelor’s
Degree in Applied Science from the University of British Columbia.
Dr. Josef J. Blanz, Qualcomm
Dr. Josef J. Blanz is a principal engineer with Qualcomm’s Standards and Industry
Organizations Group. He coordinates Qualcomm's participation in M2M and IoT related
standards and industry fora, conducts related internal design work and serves as an
interface to business development, product management and engineering teams.
From 1990 through 1993 Josef worked on design and implementations of physical layer
algorithms for mobile radio systems in custom-designed integrated circuits at the Centre for
Microelectronics at the University of Kaiserslautern, Germany. In 1993 he joined the Research Group
for RF Communications at the University of Kaiserslautern where he investigated baseband
processing techniques in multi-antenna receivers for 3rd Generation mobile radio systems. Josef
joined Qualcomm Inc. in 1998 focusing initially on smart antenna processing for CDMA base stations.
From 1999 to 2009 Josef participated in 3GPP as Qualcomm’s lead on radio and baseband
performance requirements. During that phase, he lead a number of internal R&D projects with main
focus on HSPA physical layer enhancements, such as MIMO for HSDPA. In 2009 he started to
coordinate Qualcomm's activities in M2M and IoT standards and industry organizations with technical
focus on M2M service layers. Josef was actively involved in the creation of the global initiative
oneM2M and serves as Qualcomm’s lead in oneM2M.

Overall, Josef looks back at more than 20 years of experience in communication systems design and
more than 15 years of experience in standardization. Josef holds a Master's degree (Dipl-Ing.) and a
Ph.D. degree (Dr-Ing.) in electrical engineering, both from Technical University of Kaiserslautern,
Germany.
Samita Chakrabarti , Ericsson
Samita Chakrabarti works as an architect at Ericsson Silicon Valley in the IP and
Broadband Technology Division. She was a team member of the initial Java based
‘Sunspots’, prototype sensor systems from Sun Microsystem Laboratories. She has
been involved with IP Networking, Mobility and 6lowpan implementations through her
workplaces and protocol development through IETF contributions. She has co-authored
several RFCs including RFC6775 which provides optimization of IPv6 Neighbor
Discovery for constrained node networks. Samita’s work interests include Internet of
Things and IPv6, Cloud networking, virtualization and convergence of IP with Mobile networks. She
currently co-chairs ‘6lo’ working group at IETF; 6lo develops adaptation layers and optimization for
different types of low power link-layers.
Dr Mohammed Dadas, Orange
Mohammed DADAS joined France Telecom at the R&D division where he worked on
“Networks protocols”. He moved to the Networks Division where he contributed to the
deployment of the ATM Backbone, and was responsible of the real time supervision in
the network management center.
He worked on defining the operation processes for the end to end services of the
France Telecom portfolio. Prior to that, he was in charge of the operations of the France
telecom world wide backbone network in Europe, Asia and North America.
He used to chair the ITU-T European Services and Networks Operation Conference and the ITU-T
Network management Topic Group at Service and Network Operation Group (SNO), to be Board
director of the Open Mobile Terminal Platform (OMTP) and Vice-President of the Open IPTV Forum
(OIPF) and is now Board Director of the Open Mobile Alliance (OMA).
Currently, as Content Standardization Manager, he is in charge of standardization activities in the
content domain, and is involved in multiple fora working in this field (OIPF, OMA, W3C, HD Forum,
FFT, …).
Nicolas Damour, Sierra Wireless
Nicolas Damour is Senior Manager for Business and Innovation Development at Sierra
Wireless. He holds a telecommunications engineering degree and a master degree in
innovation management and has been working since 2000 in various European and
North American countries in the IT and telecommunications industry. At Sierra Wireless,
he is responsible for M2M standardization activities and for innovation projects with
industry partners, strengthening Sierra Wireless’ position as the global leader in M2M devices and
cloud services. He has been participating in the ETSI M2M (now SmartM2M) Technical Committee
since 2010, regularly attends 3GPP and GSMA meetings and is also very active in oneM2M, being
vice-chair of the oneM2M Architecture Working Group and convener of the oneM2M Work Programme
Management group. He currently lives in Toulouse, France.
Thierry Garnier, OMA
Thierry GARNIER began his career in holding various HW/SW technical positions in
MATRA/TEMIC and TSQUARE companies. He joined GEMPLUS SA in 1997 and as Head
of Advanced Projects Team, he mainly contributes to deliver the first commercial
JavaCard products from this Company.
When GEMPLUS SA merged into GEMALTO N.V, he worked several years as Embedded

SW/HW Architect/Scientist on Multimedia and Contactless Projects and joined the GEMALTO
Standardization Team end of 2012 for taking in charge the Device Management activity as GEMALTO
delegates in OMA and oneM2M organizations.
Thierry holds a French Electronic Engineer’s degree and a Master of Sciences in Telecommunication
from INSA and a Specialized Master of Computer Science from ENSAE/ISAE, Toulouse. He holds a
dozen patents in the domains of HW/SW for embedded systems.
Raffaele Giaffreda, IEEE
Raffaele Giaffreda is the Head of Smart IoT research group at CREATE-NET and
Coordinator of EU FP7 13m€ collaborative project iCore (www.iot-icore.eu), merging
IoT and Cognitive Computing. He graduated at Politecnico Torino (Italy) and also holds
an MSc in Telecom Engineering from UCL (UK). He worked for Telecom Italia (19941995) and British Telecom (1998-2008). He is a recognised IoT expert with a strong
background on network technologies. He has published more than 30 articles in journals and
international conferences and given tutorials and talks on IoT at IEEE conferences and recently at
RE-WORK Technology Summit and IoT360. Besides research his interests also cover the innovation
aspects of relating Internet of Things, cognitive technologies and systems of smart objects. He also
has a leadership role in the innovation and pilots activities of the European Research Cluster on IoT
and serves as the Editor-in-Chief of the IEEE IoT eNewsletter.
Pierre Girard, Gemalto
Pierre Girard is principal investigator for smart energy in the Strategy and Innovation
division of Gemalto. He is in charge of Gemalto positioning in this area, including
research, prototyping, business incubation, IP and standardization. Before that, Pierre
has managed the security architecture team in Gemalto security labs for more than 10
years. Pierre holds a Habilitation and a PhD in computer security.
Roland Hechwartner, Deutsche Telekom, oneM2M Technical Plenary Vice
Chairman
Roland Hechwartner works at Deutsche Telekom Group technology, in the
Standardization and IPR Management department where he is responsible for
standardization activities in the service domain. Recently he was elected for the
oneM2M Technical Plenary Vice Chairman position.
Roland joined the department of systems engineering of max.mobil. (later T-Mobile Austria) in 1999
as project manager for mobile data solutions. Since 2005 he has been working in several
standardization groups and served as member of the board of directors of OMA.
Olivier Hersent, Actility
Olivier Hersent began his career as an engineer for France Telecom R&D Laboratories.
He left the company to create NetCentrex, a supplier of advanced VolP solutions for
network operators which became a leader in next generation telecommunication
solutions, with some of the world’s largest residential and corporate deployments.
NetCentrex was acquired in April 2006 by Comverse, the market leader in applications
for mobile networks, where Mr. Hersent became CTO.
ln 2010, he founded Actility, a company developing innovative solutions for long range wireless M2M
(ThingPark wireless) and automated energy management.
ln 2011, Mr. Hersent became CEO of Watteco, leader in wireless IoT sensors, which is now a division
of NKE electronics.
Mr. Hersent graduated from “Ecole Polytechnique » and “Telecom Paris” in France and was awarded
the Society of Electricity, Electronics and IT engineers (SEE) Blondel Medal in 2012 for his work on
VoIP.

Marc Jadoul, Alcatel-lucent
Marc Jadoul is Strategic Marketing Director, Customer and Market Insight, in AlcatelLucent. In this role he is working with company-wide stakeholders to create thought
leadership, generate sales opportunities and grow revenues, and engaging with senior
customers to capture their needs, enhance their strategy and help them grow their
business.
Marc has over 20 years experience in the ICT sector. Since he joined Alcatel in 1992, he has held
positions in research & innovation, strategy, marketing and communications, business development,
and solutions consulting for fixed and mobile telecom service providers.
Marc holds a Masters Degree in Computer Science from the University of Brussels. He is a
passionate B2B storyteller, blogger, author or co-author of more than 100 papers, magazine articles
and conference presentations, and a frequent speaker and panelist at industry events. He speaks
Dutch, English and French.
Soumya Kanti Datta , EURECOM
Soumya Kanti Datta is a research engineer in EURECOM, France. His researches focus
on innovation, standardization and development of next-generation technologies in
Mobile Computing, Internet of Things and Machine-to-Machine Communication. He is an
active member of IEEE Communication Society and IEEE Consumer Electronics Society
and has published several papers in IEEE Conferences and Journals. He is also serving
as TPC member and designated reviewer for several IEEE conferences. Prior to joining
EURECOM, Soumya has worked as interns in Mindspeed Technologies, France and University of
Ulster, UK. He holds an M.Sc. in Communication & Computer Security from Telecom ParisTech
(EURECOM), France and a B.Tech in Electronics & Communication Engineering from West Bengal
University of Technology, Kolkata, INDIA.
Keith Kreisher, Executive Director, International M2M Council (London)
Keith Kreisher heads the International M2M Council, (IMC) the world’s largest and
fastest-growing professional organization for M2M and the IoT, with board members
including AT&T, Deutsche Telekom, Oracle, and Telit. He is also director of the USbased M2M Zone, which presides over 1,000 sqm of exhibition space. Mr. Kreisher has
held senior marketing management positions for over 20 years at business information
companies such as McGraw-Hill, Reed Elsevier, and Advanstar Communications,
including resident overseas assignments. He holds an MBA from Fordham University (New York) and
a BA from Georgetown University (Washington DC).
Guang Lu, InterDigital
Guang Lu is currently a senior engineering manager at InterDigital. In recent years, her
primary focus areas have been on M2M and Internet of Things (IoT). Guang joined the
R&D department of InterDigital in 2001 and has worked on system architecture and
solutions & development on various technologies including M2M and IoT, LTE, UMTS,
IEEE 802.11, IEEE 802.21 (Media Independent Handover), and media mobility. Guang
has been an active participant of M2M standards development since 2010. She was an
active contributor to ETSI M2M architecture work and served as the WG3 rapporteur for all ETSI M2M
releases. Since the establishment of oneM2M, Guang has been an active contributor and participant
to the technical work. In addition, Guang has contributed to other standard organizations including
IETF, IEEE and 3GPP. Prior to joining InterDigital, Guang worked on Broadband Wireless Access
solutions at Nortel and Information Systems at Unisys.

Deepak Maheshwari, techMahindra
Deepak Maheshwari heads the Digitial Enterprise & IoT business for Tech Mahindra in Europe. He has
15+ years experience in Information Technology and has led big outsourcing business in a global
environment. He has strong experience in managing multi discipline IT programs in Telecom and
Enterprise where he is working closely with industry to create digital transformation roadmap and
niche vertical solutions. Deepak has done his Engineering from Delhi University and is based in
London.
Mohsen Mohseninia, Aeris
Mr. Mohseninia has over 18 years of experience in telecommunications sector where he
has engaged with C-levels to define, design and deliver business solutions, enhancing
efficiency and productivity. Prior to joining Aeris in 2013, Mr. Mohseninia was the head
of M2M for Logica in the UK responsible for the development of strategy, go to market
and sales. Prior to that, he spent more than 4 years in the Middle East and Africa
where he established a telecom business for Logica in the region. From 1999 to 2007
Mr. Mohseninia was responsible for the OSS business of Logica, where he successfully transformed
the business into a global business and established Logica as a leading supplier of OSS solutions
globally. Mr. Mohseninia holds a Ph.D. in numerical computations from the University of Hertfordshire
in the UK.
Ultan Mulligan, ETSI
Mr. Ultan Mulligan is Director of Communications at the ETSI Secretariat. Ultan is also
vice-chair of the oneM2M Marcom committee. Previously responsible for Strategy and
New Initiatives, developing new standardisation or pre-standardisation activities at
ETSI, he has also managed OSA/Parlay API standardisation activities for ETSI. In
ETSI’s Protocol and Testing Competence Centre he has managed specification and
testing projects at ETSI in fields as diverse as X.25, DECT, V5, IN, OSA, and DSRC radio
(road tolling). He has participated in many ETSI technical bodies, in 3GPP, ITU-T, CEN, and groups
such as Bluetooth SIG and Parlay.
Mr Mulligan has a B. Eng. from Dublin City University and an Executive MBA from the ESCP-EAP in
Paris.
Philippe Nappey, Schneider Electrics
Philippe Nappey has 20 years of experience in designing embedded systems, with an
expertise on networking technologies. He started his career in Antarctica, ensuring the
maintenance of various scientific experiments for the French polar expeditions then
worked for several years in the US before moving back to France where he worked for
Wind River for nearly 10 years, focusing on embedded networking. He is currently
working for Schneider Electric as solution architect in the Strategy & Technology entity
with a focus on the Internet of Things area. Philippe has been involved in several European
collaborative projects, including SOCRADES and IMC-AESOP and is the holder of several patents
related to embedded systems.
Jumoke Ogunbekun is a strategy consultant involved in Telecom standards for over
15yrs, participating in 3GPP, OneM2M and SmartM2M standards bodies. She has been
the rapporteur for ETSI M2M Smart Grid Technical Report and currently the rapporteur
for SmartM2M Smart Cities Technical Report. She is employed by Fujitsu, where she
advises on strategic directions in the Smart technology area. She has a degree in
Electrical/Electronic Engineering and Masters in Satellite Communication. She is also a
certified Project Manager and lecturer in PMP-PMI, Prince2 and Agile Methodologies.

Barbara Pareglio, GSMA
Barbara Pareglio is the Technical Director of the Connected Living Program within GSMA.
The program aim to help operators add value and accelerate the delivery of new
connected devices and services in the M2M market. Achieved by industry collaboration,
appropriate regulation, optimising networks as well as developing key enablers to
support the growth of M2M in the immediate future and the IoT.
Barbara has more than 15 years of experience in the telecommunication and held several position
form developer to system and solution architect. Worked in several areas of telecommunication, such
as Intelligent Networks, IMS, IPTV, network and device APIs, M2M and IoT for which she
participated and contributed in several standard bodies.”
Luis Jorge Romero, ETSI
Luis Jorge Romero, Director General of ETSI, has more than 20-years experience in the
telecommunications sector. At ETSI he has initiated a global standardization
partnership for Machine to Machine communications, oneM2M, has overseen the rapid
development of ETSI's Industry Specification Group on Network Functions
Virtualization, and has driven the implementation of the ETSI Long Term Strategy, an
ambitious plan to prepare the institute for the future. Previously he has held diverse Director
positions in Spain, Morocco and Mexico, predominantly with Telefonica. As Global Director for
International Roaming and Standards, and Director of Innovation and Standards, he oversaw
Telefonica's participation in global standardization activities, and participated directly in the work of
the Next Generation Mobile Networks (NGMN) Alliance and in the GSM Association (GSMA). Before
joining ETSI in July 2011, he held the position of Director General of Innosoft and was also a partner
and board member of Madrid-based Innology Ventures.
Adrian Scrase, ETSI
Adrian Scrase played a central role in the creation of the “3rd Generation Partnership
Project” (3GPP) and is responsible for the operations of the 3GPP Project Co-ordination
Group. He heads 3GPPs’ Mobile Competence Centre (MCC) which is an International
team f 20 experts who provide comprehensive support to the Project.
He was also principally involved in the formation of the recently created “oneM2M”
Partnership Project and oversees ETSI’s support to that initiative.
He is CTO within ETSI with operational responsibility for all of ETSI’s standards
production activities. He has more than 30 years experience in the telecommunications field, which
includes 25 years of experience in standardization.
Martin Serrano, National University of Ireland Galway (NUIG)
Dr. Serrano is Research Fellow and Adjunct Lecturer within the Insight Centre for Data
Analytics Galway (former Digital Enterprise Research Institute-DERI) at the National
University of Ireland Galway. He has a M.Sc. and a Ph.D. from the Technical University
of Catalonia (UPC Tech), Spain. Dr. Serrano is an ICT expert with more than 12 years
experience in applied research, at the technical and administrative management levels,
within a wide range of successful European FP5, FP6, FP7 collaborative projects (IST CONTEXT, IST
AutoI, ICT OpenIoT, ICT OpenIoT-Enlarged, ICT Vital and recently H2020 FIESTA Project, (which he
is coordinator/manager) and also National (HEA PRTLI Futurecomm and SFI FAME) Projects Dr
Serrano also lead Experiments in European Platforms (SSCFed4FIRE on BonFIRE, PlanetLab, etc). Dr.
Serrano is an active member of IEEE (Computer and Communication Societies) and ACM. He is also
actively investigating Cloud Computing Services Management, Semantic-based Cloud Infrastructures
Control and Big Data Management. Data Bases Stream processing, Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS)
Control, Sensor Networks for the Internet of Things (IoT) and their deployment in cloud computing
environments.

Speakers’ biographies
JaeSeung Song, Sejong University
JaeSeung Song is an assistant professor in the Computer and Information Security
Department at Sejong University and a delegation of Korea Electronics Technology
Institute. He holds the position of oneM2M Test WG Convenor and TTA IoT/M2M
Convergence Special Project Group Vice chair. Prior to his current position, he worked
for NEC Europe Ltd. between 2012 and 2013 as a leading standard senior researcher. At
that time, he actively participated in IoT related R&D projects and IoT/M2M standardizations (i.e.,
ETSI TC M2M and oneM2M). From 2002 to 2008, he worked for LG Electronics as a senior researcher
leading a 3GPP SA standard team. He occupied leadership positions in 3GPP and oneM2M standard
groups as a rapporteur and active contributor. He received a PhD at Imperial College London in the
Department of Computing, United Kingdom. He holds BS and MS in Computer Science from Sogang
University.
Gilles Thonet, ZigBee Alliance
Gilles joined the ZigBee Alliance as Managing Director for Europe in April 2014. In this
role he works with ZigBee member companies to set strategic priorities, advance the
deployment of standards, and expand the European ZigBee ecosystem. Gilles has more
than 15 years experience in the area of high-tech industrials, focused on aligning
cutting-edge innovation with strategic business objectives. He worked for Eaton, Schneider Electric,
ABB and Accenture in various management, R&D and consulting roles. His background includes
connectivity and embedded systems, in particular wireless and industrial communications for
applications ranging from the smart home to the manufacturing shop floor.
Genadi Velev, NEC Lab
Genadi Velev received his Dipl.-Ing. degree in telecommunications engineering from the
Technical University of Darmstadt in 2002. He joined Panasonic European Laboratories
GmbH in 2002 where he was engaged in applied research on wireless technologies and
IP mobility, including data link layer, network layer and transport layer protocols. He
was engaged in IEEE802.1 and various IETF working groups. Since 2008 he has been
contributing to 3GPP, firstly in CT1 WG in the area of non-3GPP access systems
integration with LTE/EPC system, and later, in SA2 WG. After joining NEC Laboratories Europe in
2013 he continued to actively contribute to 3GPP SA2 WG in the areas of M2M and Public Safety,
including Device-to-Device, communications.
Patrick Wetterwald, CISCO
Patrick Wetterwald is a thought leader in Architecture and Standardization for the
Smart Grid, Industrial Sensor Networks, and Internet of Things (IoT).
He held various Engineering Manager positions within Cisco where he successfully led
advanced technology projects in the domain of wireless sensor networks, wireless
communication, layer 3 mesh and IPv6 network mobility.
Mr. Wetterwald is an initial founder of the IPSO Alliance, where he has served for five years as the
President of the Board of Directors. He has written several articles on behalf of the Alliance and
delivered many keynote at international events.
He is leading and participating to several standardization efforts for ETSI, IETF, IEC, ITU, European
Mandates and EC expert groups. He is now focusing on Industrial Automation technologies including
deterministic networking.
Before joining Cisco, Patrick spent the last 25 years in the telecommunication industry working for
Lucent Technologies, IBM and Airbus Industry.
He graduated from the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Télécommunications de Bretagne.
Patrick filed 85+ patents and got (PMP) certification in 2001.
