The Board of Trustees of the Houston Community College System held a Special Meeting on December 15, 2000
at the HCC Heinen Theatre, 3517 Austin, Houston, Texas.

CALL TO ORDER AND ADJOURNMENT TO CLOSED SESSION
Mr. Austin called the Meeting to order at 5:20 p.m., and declared the Board convened to consider matters pertaining
to the Houston Community College System as listed on the duly posted meeting notice. He immediately adjourned
the meeting to Executive Session, notice having previously been given, and reiterated by him, in accordance with
the Open Meetings Law. He stated that any final action, vote, or decision on any item discussed in Executive
Session would be taken up in Open Session or in a subsequent Public Meeting.
He reconvened the meeting in Open session at 6:40 p.m. and entertained motions on pending matters.
DR. LESLIE CONFIRMED AS CHANCELLOR
Motion Dr. Williams moved that the Board approve the employment of
Dr. Bruce H. Leslie as Chancellor of the Houston Community College System, effective January 5, 2001, under the
terms of the employment contract before us as modified in closed session. Mr. Murphy seconded the motion.
Motion carried 7-0.
REMARKS FROM DR. LESLIE
Dr. Leslie expressed appreciation to the Board, faculty, staff and community for the opportunity to serve as
Chancellor. He briefly reviewed a preliminary vision statement developed with the Board in a recent retreat. Finally,
Dr. Leslie restated his commitment to providing the best education possible to HCCS students.

ADJOURNMENT
With no further business to come before the Board, Mr. Austin adjourned the meeting at 6:44 p.m.
