Psychology ranked in world Top 100
The Department of Psychology at the University of Exeter is now ranked in the
top 100 in the recent QS World Rankings. Only 14 other UK institutions feature
in the top 100 Psychology rankings.
Exeter has one of the UK’s top Psychology departments, providing highquality programmes for highly-motivated students, whatever their background.
The Department’s teaching is inspired and informed by internationally-rated
research and is accredited by the British Psychological Society. The teaching
team comprises researchers in social, cognitive, and clinical psychology, and also
researchers in animal behaviour.
Professor Huw Williams, Co-Director of the Centre for Clinical
Neuropsychology Research commented: “This is great news as it reflects the
way in which our strength in research across key areas of psychology is increasingly
recognised as making a global impact. Such excellence in research informs and
supports our teaching, allowing our students to be at the cutting-edge in this field”.

Notice of withdrawal of ‘single’ CAS
procedure for pre-sessional students
In 2011, the University initiated a policy of providing a single CAS for those
students who were undertaking an INTO@Exeter pre-sessional English
programme, up to a maximum of 10 weeks, followed by a Bachelors, Masters or
PhD programme at Exeter.
Please note this policy is no longer being continued. Instead, students who have
an offer for a University degree-bearing programme conditional upon successful
completion of an INTO@Exeter programme of English will be supplied first with
a CAS only for the pre-sessional programme. They will then be issued with a
CAS for the University programme only once they have successfully completed
the INTO programme.
Only those students with an unconditional offer but who choose to spend five or
10 weeks on a pre-sessional programme will be permitted to have a single CAS.

the UK Government’s most prestigious Chevening Scholarships are drawing
close. Most deadlines are in December 2012 while others are at the beginning
of January 2013. You are strongly advised to check on the Chevening main

country-pages will also specify the current priority areas of study and, if applicable,
you should encourage your strongest students in these priority disciplines to apply
in time to be considered for these scholarships.
University Christmas closure
and applications
We would like to give an early warning that the University will close
for the Christmas holiday on Saturday 22 December 2012 and will not
reopen until Wednesday 2 January 2013. In order to avoid a large backlog
of applications occurring during our ‘down’ time, we would request
that applications be submitted online before 10 December 2012 as this
will facilitate referrals to our academic Colleges and obtaining decisions
before we close. Your assistance in this matter will greatly assist both
the University and the individual applicants in managing the students’
expectations about turnaround time for a decision.
