Colonnade Implementation Committee
Motion:
The University Senate charged the Senate Executive Committee to form the Colonnade Implementation
Committee (CIC) to oversee an orderly transition from the old General Education program and to
facilitate the implementation of the WKU Colonnade Program effective Fall 2014.
Following discussion, it is the recommendation of the CIC that the Colonnade Implementation
Committee that the body remains in place for another year. During that time, the CIC will submit a
proposal for a new Colonnade governance structure in the fall 2014 term, allowing for a seamless
transition to the new Colonnade Program Committee in 2015. In addition to the governance model,
there remain other issues perhaps best handled by the CIC, particularly those related to assessment and
policy/procedure. It seems to us that the assigned task of the CIC is to create a fully working structure
will allow the new standing Colonnade Program Committee to begin their work of ongoing course
approval, program review, and assessment.
