What We Learned
This Week…
Math – This week we learned about prime and composite
numbers and how to write the prime factorization of a
number. We also practiced how to find the greatest
common factor and least common multiple of numbers.
Reading – We continued our non-fiction unit by reading
and taking notes on a variety of topics. We identified the
main idea of passages and domain specific vocabulary and
also learned how to skim text for important information.

Writing – We prepared ourselves to write an informational
writing piece by taking notes and organizing our notes into
subsections. We also learned how to write a summary
paragraph with a main idea and supporting details.
January Birthdays
Science – This week we learned about two more simple
machines, the pulley and the inclined plane. We explored
how these simple machines make it easier to do work and
observed the tradeoff between distance and force.
Winter Enrichment Program forms are due
