Gordon Banks MP, Shadow Minister for Business, Innovation and Skills Gordon Banks has been the Labour MP for Ochil & South Perthshire since 2005 and was last year appointed by Ed Miliband as one of Labour’s Shadow Ministers with responsibility for business, regulation and banking. Gordon is married and has two children. Before entering politics, the vast majority of Gordon’s working life was spent in the construction industry. He began work in his teens with Costain Construction and worked his way up through the industry. In 1976 Gordon was appointed Chief Buyer for Barratt Developments, a job which he carried out until 1986 when he set up his own building supply company, Cartmore Building Supplies Ltd, which is based in Lochgelly, Fife. Gordon has qualifications from Glasgow College of Building and a BA in History and Politics from the University of Stirling.
