WORCESTER COUNTY 4-H OBSERVER Inclement Weather Policy In the case of inclement weather, our program follows the same closing as the Worcester County Board of Education. If schools have been closed due to weather conditions, all 4-H programs scheduled for that date will be cancelled! If you have any questions, please call the Extension Office before leaving for the program. JAN-MAR 2016 Sun, March 13th Snow Hill Lions Club If you plan to complete Diamond Clover Level 5 during 2016, be sure to have your checklist completed by November 2016 so the 4-H Office can forward your name to the State 4-H Office in time for you to be included in the 2017 Gala awards. We didn’t have anyone participate this year so let’s make a point of sending members to the Gala next year!! Congratulations! Maryland 4-H Online Enrollment Process It is time to register as a 2016 4-H member by going on-line to: https://md.4honline.com 4-H Online is a fully integrated management system that brings together all levels of the 4-H experience. Whether it is a member logging in to manage their record, a club leader printing mailing labels, or a county agent approving a member’s enrollment. 4-H Online brings the Maryland 4-H community together and keeps everyone involved. Tom was awarded the State Friend of 4-H Of the Lower Shore Award at the 2015 Maryland 4-H Volunteer & Youth Forum held in November 2015 at the Carousel Resort Hotel in Ocean City. Tom, the Emergency Management Planner for the Worcester County Emergency Services, has given his time to train Lower Shore youth emergency skills through 4-H programs such as Having Emergency Response Skills (HERS) and trained many of our 4-H volunteers and members in CPR and Emergency First Aid. Tom has also accepted the invitation to become a Worcester Extension Advisory Council member. THANK YOU TOM ! The meeting starts at 7:00 p.m. Join the Worcester County 4-H program as we learn about the history of flight, early inventors and design and build a number of flying machines. In this role, he will also serve as Director of UME and the MD Agricultural Experiment Station. Dr. Beyrouty succeeds Dr. Cheng-I Wei, who served as dean of the College of AGNR for ten years before stepping into a new role as director of college’s international programs office. JAN – MAR 2016 Ocean City Boat Show February 12- 14th Please help promote 4-H and the Worcester County Fair? We will have a booth at the Ocean City Boat Show three day event to increase awareness about the fair and our 4H program. We are looking for clubs that would be interested in working the booth to promote our program and as a 4-H fundraiser. Any club that assists with the fundraiser will receive a portion of the profits raised during the event. Please contact Cindy at the 4-H office as soon as possible so we can set up a time for your club to participate. Photo taken by Denise Ortega. The Future 4-H’ers held their last meeting at the Worcester County Extension on November 11th. The club discussed upcoming events and the possibility of participating in the Snow Hill Christmas Parade. The youth worked on a Thanksgiving turkey decoration to take home and spruce up their homes for their thanksgiving celebration. Several of the youth also attended the “Track or Treat” held at the Worcester County Recreation Department. The Worcester County Fair/4-H program sponsored a booth at this event to promote our programs. It was fun time for everyone!
