Castration Policy of the Maryland 4-H AnSc Program: All male steers, lambs, pigs, and goats must be neutered and
healed prior to 4-H weigh-in and tagging. The only exception would be animals that have obvious signs they have been
banded, however, their scrotal sac is still intact.

in the Fair. Please call the Extension Office to RSVP for the Swine Workshop.

Indoor Department Update
In last month’s Tribune, I wrote about the fair changes in the Crafts Dept. for the 2016 Fair. I
failed to tell you about the biggest change for the entering and judging. Crafts will be entered and
judged in the Extension Office in rooms A & B and the Library and in the Nathan
Blizzard Building.
10
This month I will concentrate on 2 more departments. The first one is the Photography Dept.
Both the entering and judging locations and the time has been changed. Photography exhibits
will still be entered and judged on Fri. July 29 but from 1 PM-4 PM in rooms A & B in
the Extension Office. Keep in mind the rules will be the same as the State Fair rules except for the
number of entries which stand at five for the County Fair. When you take your exhibits home from
the County Fair they are ready to be entered for the State Fair except you need to decide which three
you are taking to state.
The other department this month is Woodworking. Two new classes have been added, They are for
club entries. The first new class is an item less than 22” made by at least 3 members from
the same club. The second new class is an item 22” or more made by at least 3 members
from the same club. These should generate some more club participation and friendly
competition.
Next month I will cover some changes in the Club Book Department.
Now is the time many families are planning their vacation. Once again, set up for all buildings
associated with the fair will be Saturday, July 23. Our set up in the Red Buildings will begin at 2 PM
with Seniors and Intermediates whose last name begins with letters (A-L). Juniors will be at 3 PM
Fair teardown will be Sat. Aug. 6 for those whose last name begins with (M-Z).
