Outcome #1: Demonstrate the ability to analyze the values and assumptions underlying social and political philosophies. Students will complete a case study analysis combining personal reaction with references to at least three major political philosophers of a current social or political situation. In the future we will analyze the student’s political beliefs in groups and how that might relate to the class. No Outcome #2: Demonstrate the ability to compare and contrast differing political philosophies. Students will complete a case study analysis combining personal reaction with references to at least three major political philosophers of a current social or political issue or situation. We will discuss the primary source material in groups with concentrated topic questions. No Outcome #3 Homework Portfolio Hypothetical exemplification of over 100 fallacies and patterns in lying. One quarter of the students effectively understood and researched accordingly. They analyzed 3 political philosophies using a variety of journal sources related to the material. They demonstrated proficiency in this particular area while also conveying a change in personal political affairs. One quarter of the students effectively understood and researched accordingly. They analyzed three political philosophers and those specific texts from class. While the primary source material was difficult to understand group analysis seemed to help in their comprehension. Graded A through F based on completeness and correct exemplification of fallacies and patterns in lying. The size and depth of the homework portfolio is weighted in the computation of study skills and retention of information reflected in individual students. Homework portfolio is regularly revised to ensure reasonable workload expectations of students.
