Program, Discipline or Course Outcomes In the boxes below, summarize the outcomes assessed in your program or discipline during the last year. Outcome # I as written in fall and spring 2014-15 in Rubalcava's syllabus: Students will be able to demonstrate the ability to read, listen, interpret, and communicate through appropriate spoken or written forms about best practices regarding the education of exceptional children. Measure 1: Students will read a set of chapter questions and explain their understanding of current theories and best practices using a journal notebook. Journal will be graded using a rubric. Assessment Measures Assessment Results Use of Results In the boxes below, summarize the methods used to assess program, discipline, or course outcomes during the last year. In the boxes below, summarize the results of your assessment activities during the last year. In the boxes below, summarize how you are or how you plan to use the results to improve student learning. Pre- and post-test administered on first and last weeks of 3 class sections in fall and spring 2014-2015. Student pre-tests in 3 sections displayed generalizations about best practices with anecdotes. While almost all student pre-tests described one-on-one teaching and aides, almost none described precise modalities and technologies. In contrast, 3/4111 of the post-tests described best practices using universal design and multiple intelligences, including technology adaptations. For example, post-tests described the use of sign language, cognitive behavioral therapy techniques, scaffolding repetition with choral response, seating alternatives, ,cooperative learning,, and alternative technological platforms. For 20 I 5-2 l06, I will attempt to improve student success with outcome #I by requiring students to journal and share at least five additional best practices observed during the on-site field experience visit. Thus in addition to the best practices learned from lecture and reading, students will record what they hear and interpret during the scheduled visit. As it stands, student visit notes were optional and this work requirement will broaden the breadth of understanding best practices in a way that allows students to communicate learning in their own words. Effect on Program, Discipline or Course Based on the results of this assessment, will you revise your outcomes? If so, please summarize how and why in the boxes below. In 2016-2016, I will measure outcome #2 written in Rubalcava's syllabus: Students will demonstrate the ability to understand and tolerate different viewpoints and behaviors regarding the education of exceptional children. Improvements in outcome #I through journaling and sharing best practices observed during the field experience visit should enhance outcome #2, which is the next level of learning. The broadened list of best practices will allow students to better understand and tolerate different viewpoints and behaviors regarding the education of exceptional children. I will administer a pre-and posttest about these different viewpoints and behaviors. For Program, Discipline or Course Assessment Reports: I have reviewed this report: IJ-' hu._ C1{/J .
