ELL News 10-1-15
Kindergarten
We are working on reading and creating books that
use positional words: above, below, under, over,
around, past, etc. Last week we completed a book
titled, Rosie's Walk. This week we are reading a
Pete the Cat book. Please ask your student to share
their book with you. They are so proud of their
work!
First grade
We are studying families and the
different jobs and responsibilities
each person has at home. Each
student created their own "family"
book, also. They will be going
home this week-please ask your
student to read it with you.
Fifth grade
Second grade/Third grade
The second graders are studying the concept of
community. They have read a variety of text and
created a learning notebook with vocabulary words
and related activities. I know your student will be
excited to show it to you at Open House. The
learning notebook will be a resource they can keep at
the end of the year.
The third graders are studying the beginning of our
country: The Thirteen Colonies. They have also
created a learning notebook and will continue to add
to it as the year continues.
The fifth grade students are
studying the solar system and are
working on comparing and
contrasting two planets. They
have just begun the research
phase of this project. They love
working with the technology
available to them!
