AbstractID: 8591 Title: Capturing Data for Chart Review and Calculation Checks Use of ADAC Pinnacle3 treatment planning software and VARIS treatment software requires exchange of information between the two. This is accomplished at the hospital and freestanding center by the use of RTP Exchange, a program that reads a comma delimited ASCII file generated by the ADAC system and places the information into the VARIS database. It is possible to import the ASCII file into an Excel spreadsheet and format it to generate documents that are useful for both quality assurance purposes and daily record keeping in departments that still rely on hand written records of treatment. The format for daily record keeping has been well received by therapists and dosimetrists since it is automatically generated, which saves time, eliminates transcription errors and is more legible for the rare occasions when problems with VARIS require hand setting of machine parameters. The record includes a graphic showing field shape and enables calculation of the unblocked portion of the field for use in alternate verification of calculated dose. Differences in order of jaw settings between ADAC and VARIS are easily handled by the spreadsheet. The lines are numbered only for the required number of treatments as an aid to figuring out when treatment ends or cone-down starts.
