BMIS 470 Course Syllabus COURSE SYLLABUS BMIS 470 EXECUTIVE PERSPECTIVES ON E-COMMERCE TECHNOLOGY COURSE DESCRIPTION The capstone course for the Web Technology and Design degree. The course synthesizes material presented in previous courses highlighting the challenge of communication electronic commerce technology issues to non-technically oriented executives. Specific topics will include: models of web business strategy; and non-business web applications in government and education. (Formerly ISYS 470) RATIONALE This course applies the knowledge and skills gained in the prerequisite courses in real-world projects designed to reinforce and expand the knowledge and skills of the student through more advanced web-based technologies. Course Requirements Checklist After reading the Course Syllabus and Student Expectations, the student will complete the related checklist found in Module/Week 1. C. Discussion Board Forums (4) Discussion boards are collaborative learning experiences. Therefore, there will be 4 Discussion Board Forums throughout this course. The student is required to write a thread in response to the provided topic for each Discussion Board Forum. Each thread is to be 50–100 words and integrate information drawn from experience and the course readings. In addition to the thread, the student is required to reply to 1 other classmate’s thread. The reply should be 25–50 words. D. Host Setup This assignment includes domain registration, hosting setup, and FTP preparation. The student must submit the URL for his/her hosting service/domain name. E. Websites (2) The student will build 2 websites in this course. Website 1 will focus on selling virtual products, and Website 2 will focus on selling physical products. F. Payment Setup The student will use Authorize.net to setup the payment system and submit his/her testing account information. VI. COURSE GRADING AND POLICIES A. Late Assignment Policy If the student is unable to complete an assignment on time, then he or she must contact the instructor immediately by email. Assignments that are submitted after the due date without prior approval from the instructor will receive the following deductions: 1. Assignments submitted more than one week late will receive a 20% deduction. 3. Assignments submitted two weeks late or after the final date of the class will not be accepted. 4.
