University of Maryland –
Caroline County 4-H
The 4-H staff wishes to share Merry
Christmas, Happy Holidays and Happy New
Year to all of our 4-H families. Make the
year 2016 the best yet!
Dear 4-H members, parents & volunteers:
As many of you have heard I have been
working limited hours since August 19 due
to a medical concern. This has left a big
hole in the amount of work being done in the county program, most importantly making
the connections and keeping you up to date on happenings. I am closing out my career
here in the county effective December 31. I had planned to do that before my health
conditions caused me to take time off to rest.
I deeply appreciate each and every one of our 4-H families. You are my Caroline family
and will always be. You have taught me so much and given so much to each other and to
the county program. I trust that your 4-H experience will leave you with a lifetime of
positive memories and that each one of you will proudly say I am or I have been a
Caroline County 4-H member and that I live by the ideals of the 4-H pledge. Remember
you are the ones that represent the backbone of this county- hardworking, honest citizens
and students who strive to make Caroline County a better place to live. May each member
and your family continue to enjoy and grow from your 4-H experience.
Many thanks to all the awesome volunteers- club leaders and parents, who step up to the
plate for you all the time. Please say a big thanks to them and know and appreciate all they
do to make the opportunities that you have in 4-H.
Please join us in welcoming Missy Tucker to the office!
Missy is a former 4-H member, she completed the
Diamond Clover requirements and went to National 4-H Congress representing
our county. She was a former very active member of the Silver Spurs and Teen
group. Missy is working on Monday’s presently and will be adding a few more
hours to her work time beginning in January. Her email at this time is:
metucker2011@yahoo.com If you email her please note the title as a 4-H
question. If you do not she may assume the message is junk.

 Thank you to all those helpers at the county fair with judging, individual livestock shows, and all 4-H members
who helped at the children’s day program- teaching about rabbit care, agriculture and more! If you showed your
livestock projects to fair visitors any time during the fair you also deserve a big thanks!
 A HUGE thank you to Mrs. Charlotte Brown for chairing the livestock shows and for the support and help from
each 4-H UME volunteer and previous 4-H members who helped make the Caroline –Dorchester County Fair a big
success. Also, very big thank you to Ms. Beverly Saathoff, Caroline, Paul & David for helping take and enter our
county 4-H entries in the Maryland State Fair and Maggie and Bill Rogers for picking them up. Additionally,

 Thanks to Mrs. Beth MacDonald for chairing the rabbit/cavy show and to Missy Tucker, Mollie Dove and Becky
Burgess for serving as co-chairs of the horse show.
 Caroline County 4-H was well represented by the following who took advantage of the many options for 4-H
members and volunteers by attending the MD 4-H Volunteer and Teen Forum in Ocean City in November.
Scholarships were awarded to the following volunteers: Wendi Potter, Teresa Cochran, Maggie Rogers and Bill
Rogers. In addition, Quinn Cochran and Connor Cochran attended as 4-H members.
 Thanks so much to Connor Cochran for representing MD 4-H as a delegate to the National 4-H Congress in
Atlanta. We are very proud of his participation. Connor was also awarded a scholarship from the Caroline
County 4-H All Stars to help defray cost of the trip. Connor interviewed and earned the trip based on his 4-H
achievements including yearly completion of his record book.

Caroline County 4-H!
 Gabrielle Parsley is an active member of the MD 4-H State Council. We appreciate that your representation.
 Scholarship winner: Gabrielle Parsley was awarded the Howard W. Clark Sr. Memorial Scholarship from the

follow the 4-H motto…..To make the Best Better! Congratulations Gabrielle!

big thanks to Becky & Marcia a well as the Hopping Around 4-H Club members and leaders for serving breakfast
