Court of Justice of the European Union PRESS RELEASE No 9/10 Luxembourg, 10 February 2010 Press and Information Visit to the Court of Justice of a delegation from the Supreme Court of the United States of America and Professors from an American university, SMU Dedman School of Law John G. Roberts Jr., Chief Justice, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Associate Justice, and Stephen G. Breyer, Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States of America, accompanied by Jeffrey P. Minear, Counselor to the Chief Justice, and by professors from the SMU Dedman School of Law, paid an official visit to the Court of Justice of the European Union from 8 to 10 February 2010. The delegation, welcomed by Mr Vassilios Skouris, President of the Court of Justice, took part in working sessions on “Relations with other judicial bodies”, “Methodology and interpretation” and “Impact of the Treaty of Lisbon”. On the second day of the visit, the delegation attended a hearing in a case before the Grand Chamber of the Court of Justice and took part in working sessions on the organisation and working methods of the Court. This meeting is part of the frequent and close contacts which the Court of Justice has maintained with the Supreme Court of the United States since 1998.
