FSAC Meeting March 1, 2010
Meeting Opened at 1:12pm in attendance were John Price, Ken Fomunung, Nicole
Sopko, Mike Harding, Sevelia Johnson, Rebecca Szwarc, Esmeralda Valdez, Geoffrey

Open Forum
a. Town hall was a huge success
b. People love the Hawaiian Pizza and the Fun Facts
Minutes Approved
Dining Services Update
a. Cranberry Farms BBQ will run until Spring Break but preliminary results
show it will stay permanently.
b. General Mills bike update, if UH wins we can receive up to $9000 in
prizes and there are daily drawings for a backpack until March 31.
c. Spring dining survey available until March 19 and there will be a drawing
for a $250 gift card.
d. Shasta’s soda concept will be discussed once the Coca Cola contract is
finalized.
Reusable To-Go Containers
a. New to go containers are in!
b. Marketing team put out pick up boxes in the North Tower after janitorial
staff found some of the containers in the trash. Cardboard boxes are a pilot
program until students are comfortable with drop off points. Possible drop
off point in Einstein’s because it is the center of campus.
c. Students are not allowed to wash and re use the containers due to
sanitation reasons.
d. Main focus is teaching students where the containers need to be returned
to and to help them develop the habit. Posters are in production to help
remind students about drop off and are looking into advertisements on
televisions throughout campus.
e. Possibly talk to organizations or fraternities about picking up drop off
boxes.
Moody Towers
a. The construction company has been chosen and construction will begin
May 1st and will last 180 days which should be done by August 12th.
b. Should create signs or fun facts paving the way to the OB dining hall
while the Moody Towers dining hall is closed.
c. Naming process if approved by Aramark will be taken on by subcommittee with students voting on the final name.
Sub-Committee
a. Fair Labor Action Committee issue was addressed in a press release from
Aramark and they are currently working out a deal with the CIW.
Aramark agreed to the penny per pound deal but is checking to make the
money makes it to the appropriate people.
b. Research sub-committee proposed to educate FSAC on anything related to
the food services.
c. Committee was proposed by Jonas Chin and approved.
