The socio-cultural climate of this region compels the students to explore various
employment opportunities as the most preferred career choice after completion of their
formal education. These invariably results in the youth spending on an average 3 to 4
years of precious time in searching for various jobs and engage themselves in allied
activities like preparing for various job related competitive examinations. During such
period most of them also acquire additional qualifications to widen the scope of job
opportunities.
However, in the prevailing employment scenario, only a small number of
aspirants get absorbed in the employment market and the remaining vast majority is
thrown out to fend for themselves. Thus at the end, after exhausting almost all
employment related avenues they turn to self-employment/entrepreneurial activities,
but they lack the skills which are vital for succeeding in any entrepreneurial venture.
Besides, they are also deficient in sensing viable business opportunities, knowledge of
resources to launch and effectively manage self-employment ventures. In this context
