research/policy papers.

university/college, and/or experience in research at the University/
National level institution/Industries, including experience of
guiding candidates for research at doctoral level.
Contribution to educational innovation, design of new curricula and
courses, and technology-mediated teaching learning process.
A minimum score as stipulated in the Academic Performance
Indicator (API) based Performance Based Appraisal System (PBAS),
set out in UGC Regulation, 2010 in Appendix III. (A PBAS proforma
for calculating API Score along with instructions to applicants for calculating
API Score in each category is included in the Application form. For more

- OR (i)
An outstanding professional, with established reputation in the
relevant field, who has made significant contributions to the
knowledge in the concerned/allied/relevant discipline, to be
substantiated by credentials.
(ii) Since teachers recruited directly can be from different backgrounds
and institution, Table II(C) of Appendix III provides norms for direct
recruitment of teachers to different cadres.
TERMS & CONDITIONS
(i)
The tenure of appointment shall be for a period of five years or
attainment of the age of 60 years whichever is earlier.
(ii)
Incumbent shall hold the Chair for a period of five years. However,
the tenure shall not normally be extended unless recommended by
the Expert review Committee constituted by the Dr. Ambedkar
Foundation, Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Govt of
India, New Delhi., in consultation with, and as per advice of the
UGC.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
The Chair has to function as a centre of learning and research
and study of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar’s work and philosophy
for :
(i)
Dissemination of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar’s Thought amongst the
People through various programmes like lecturers, seminars,
research and publication.
(ii)
The main objective of this Scheme is to provide well-equipped
centre of learning for intellectuals, academicians and students to
undertake studies and research with an intention to understand,
assess and disseminate ideas and thoughts of Dr. Babasaheb
Ambedkar particularly on subject like Economics, Political Science,
Religion, Philosophy, Constitutional Studies, Education, Social
Work, Human Rights as well as other disciplines considered
relevant for attainment of our National Goal of Social Justice. In
each of these disciplines, the focus of research and teaching will be
the study of deprived sections of Indian Society. In achieving this
objective, the Chairs will also undertake research and higher
studies concerning the socio-economic and cultural life of the
marginalized groups and other weaker sections of the society. The
Chair would strive to develop appropriate methodologies to
translate Dr. Ambedkar’s ideas into practical propositions and
policy instruments. The specific areas of research and learning in
the concerned disciplines will be spelt out in the Memorandum of
Understanding to be signed jointly by Dr. Ambedkar Foundation
and the concerned University/Institute.
(iii)
To lay appropriate stress on religious philosophy of Dr. Babasaheb
Ambedkar.
(iv)
To provide challenging
methodology and frame
and ideas into practical
the overall theme of the
new opportunities to develop appropriate
work for translating Dr. Ambedkar Thought
propositions having a significant bearing on
history of Dalit Movement.
GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS
1.
Candidates must read the instructions before filling the application
form in. Candidates must ensure that no column is wrongly filled in
Application form as the information furnished therein would be
used for deciding the eligibility and suitability of the candidates for
being called for the interview. Applications not filled in correctly,
completely or as per the instructions are liable to be rejected and
the onus of such rejection would be on the candidate
himself/herself.
2.
Applicants are advised to submit the applications to the University
well in advance, without waiting till the last date, to avoid postal
delay or any other unforeseen problems. The University will not be
responsible for any postal delay at any stage.
3.
Copies of the certificates should be attached in support of
information given in the form where necessary and serial No. of
enclosure attached should be indicated in the respective column
given in the form. Any information contained in the attached
certificates shall not be considered unless it is claimed in the
application form.

Prescribed qualifications for the above mentioned posts would be as
per the Norms/Regulations of UGC and as approved by the
Government of Maharashtra.
5.
Please note that UGC Regulations-2010 as amended from time to
time form an integrated part of this advertisement. The candidates
are advised to visit the website of the UGC, relevant statutory
councils for details, if required.
6.
The candidate is strictly required to submit duly filled Academic
Performance Indicator (API) form which is to be filled as per
Appendix III Table 1, of the UGC Regulations 2010 which is
included in the prescribed application form and also available on
the University Grant Commission website www.ugc.ac.in. Wherever
the research contribution is jointly made, the API scores should be
shared between the contributors as per the formula provided in
Table 1.

Proficiency in Marathi is desirable.
8.
As far as possible, persons belonging to Scheduled Castes,
Scheduled Tribes, Backward Classes or those belonging to other
Weaker Sections of the society may be preferred while selecting as
Professor under Dr. Ambedkar Chair.
9.
Candidates belonging to the reserved categories specified by the
state Government of Maharashtra shall be considered.
10. Candidates should attach attested copies of caste validity certificate
and non-creamy layer certificate wherever is applicable.
11. Candidates from reserved category who are domiciled outside the
Maharashtra will be treated as Open category candidates as per
Maharashtra Govt. Circular No. CBS-1290/23116/Pra.Kra378/
Mapak.5 dated 24-8-1995.
12. As per the Govt. resolution dated 31st October, 2005 a new “Defined
contribution pension scheme” has been made applicable to the
Govt. servant, who are recruited on or after 1st November, 2005. The
same will be applicable to employees of this Institute.
13. A crossed Demand Draft of Rs. 500/- for candidates under
‘General’ (OPEN) category or Rs.300/- for candidates of Backward
Class categories (whether the post is reserved for these categories or
not), drawn in favour of “The, Finance & Accounts Officer,
Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University, payable at
Nagpur (Maharashtra State), India, should be sent with the
application towards registration fee (non-refundable). The Demand
Draft must be placed/tagged at the top of the application.
14. Canvassing in any form on behalf of any candidate will definitely
disqualify such a candidate.
15. Applications incomplete in any respect will not receive any
consideration at all.

17. Paste (do not staple/pin) a passport size colour photograph in the

21. Experience and qualifications will be reckoned as on the preceding
day to the date of employment notification (not the date of
publication of the employment notification). Good and clear
photocopies of all certificates must be attached to the application.
22. The right is reserved with the University to fill or not to fill the post
or to modify/alter/cancel the advertisement.
23. No correspondence will be made with applicants who are not shortlisted/not called for interview.

original application being sent through proper channel/employer. If
the original application through proper channel has not been

31. Eleven copies of the application form along with attested true

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE :
(i)
A Master’s Degree with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade
in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) by a
recognized University.
(ii)
A Ph.D. Degree in concerned/allied/relevant discipline(s) in the
institution concerned with evidence of published work and research
guidance.
(iii)
Associate Professor/Professor with a total experience of fifteen years
of teaching/research/administration in Universities, Colleges and
other institutions of higher education.
(iv)
A minimum score as stipulated in the Academic Performance
Indicator (API) based Performance Based Appraisal System (PBAS),
set out in UGC Regulation, 2010 in Tables No.1 and III of appendix
III. (A PBAS proforma for calculating API Score along with instructions
to applicants for calculating API Score in each category is included in
the Application form. For more details regarding API, refer UGC
Regulations, 2010 available on www.ugc.ac.in)
The Academic Performance Indicator (API) scoring system in the
process of selection of Principal shall be similar to that of directly
recruited College Professors. In addition, the selection committee
shall assess the following dimensions with the weightages given
below:
a)
Assessment of aptitude
administration (20%);
for
b)
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively (10%);
c)
Ability to plan institutional programmes, analyze and discuss
curriculum development and delivery, research support and
college development/administration (20%);

teaching,
research
and
d)
Ability to deliver lecture programmes to be assessed by
requiring the candidate to participate in a group discussion or
exposure to a class room situation by a lecture (10%); and
e)
Analysis of the merits and credentials of the candidates on the
basis of the Performance Based Appraisal System (PBAS)
proforma developed by the affiliating University based on these
Regulations (deduced to 40% of the total API score).
In the event the candidate is from industry and the profession,
the following shall constitute as essential:
(i)
Second Class Master’s Degree with atleast 55% in the appropriate
branch of concerned discipline.
(ii)
Significant professional work which can be recognized as equivalent
to a Ph.D. Degree during industrial/professional experience of ten
years, out of which at least five years at a senior level of Assistant
Professor/Reader, Provided the recognition for significant
professional shall be valid only if the same is recommended
unanimously by a 3-Member Committee of Experts appointed by
the Vice-Chancellor of the University.
Without prejudice to the above, the following conditions may
be considered desirable:
a)
Teaching, research and/or professional experience in a reputed
organization;
b)
Published work, such as research papers, books, and/or technical
reports;
c)
Experience of guiding the project work/dissertation of PG/Research
Students.
d)
Demonstrated leadership in planning and organizing academic,
research and/or professional activities; and
e)
Capacity to undertake/lead sponsored R & D, consultancy and
related activities.

Ph.D. Degree shall not be considered as teaching/research
experience.
