No. of Posts 01 (One) QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE : (i) (ii) (iii) (iv) An eminent scholar with Ph.D. qualification(s) in the concerned/allied/relevant discipline and published work of high quality actively engaged in research with evidence of published work with a minimum of 10 publications as books and/or research/policy papers. A minimum of ten years of teaching experience in university/college, and/or experience in research at the University/ National level institution/Industries, including experience of guiding candidates for research at doctoral level. Contribution to educational innovation, design of new curricula and courses, and technology-mediated teaching learning process. A minimum score as stipulated in the Academic Performance Indicator (API) based Performance Based Appraisal System (PBAS), set out in UGC Regulation, 2010 in Appendix III. TERMS & CONDITIONS (i) The tenure of appointment shall be for a period of five years or attainment of the age of 60 years whichever is earlier. (ii) Incumbent shall hold the Chair for a period of five years. However, the tenure shall not normally be extended unless recommended by the Expert review Committee constituted by the Dr. Ambedkar Foundation, Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Govt of India, New Delhi., in consultation with, and as per advice of the UGC. Page 2 of 10 JOB REQUIREMENTS The Chair has to function as a centre of learning and research and study of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar’s work and philosophy for : (i) Dissemination of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar’s Thought amongst the People through various programmes like lecturers, seminars, research and publication. (ii) The main objective of this Scheme is to provide well-equipped centre of learning for intellectuals, academicians and students to undertake studies and research with an intention to understand, assess and disseminate ideas and thoughts of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar particularly on subject like Economics, Political Science, Religion, Philosophy, Constitutional Studies, Education, Social Work, Human Rights as well as other disciplines considered relevant for attainment of our National Goal of Social Justice. In each of these disciplines, the focus of research and teaching will be the study of deprived sections of Indian Society. In achieving this objective, the Chairs will also undertake research and higher studies concerning the socio-economic and cultural life of the marginalized groups and other weaker sections of the society. The Chair would strive to develop appropriate methodologies to translate Dr. Ambedkar’s ideas into practical propositions and policy instruments. The specific areas of research and learning in the concerned disciplines will be spelt out in the Memorandum of Understanding to be signed jointly by Dr. Ambedkar Foundation and the concerned University/Institute. (iii) To lay appropriate stress on religious philosophy of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar. (iv) To provide challenging methodology and frame and ideas into practical the overall theme of the new opportunities to develop appropriate work for translating Dr. Ambedkar Thought propositions having a significant bearing on history of Dalit Movement. In addition, the selection committee shall assess the following dimensions with the weightages given below: a) Assessment of aptitude administration (20%); for b) Ability to communicate clearly and effectively (10%); c) Ability to plan institutional programmes, analyze and discuss curriculum development and delivery, research support and college development/administration (20%); Page 6 of 10 teaching, research and d) Ability to deliver lecture programmes to be assessed by requiring the candidate to participate in a group discussion or exposure to a class room situation by a lecture (10%); and e) Analysis of the merits and credentials of the candidates on the basis of the Performance Based Appraisal System (PBAS) proforma developed by the affiliating University based on these Regulations (deduced to 40% of the total API score). In the event the candidate is from industry and the profession, the following shall constitute as essential: (i) Second Class Master’s Degree with atleast 55% in the appropriate branch of concerned discipline. (ii) Significant professional work which can be recognized as equivalent to a Ph.D. Degree during industrial/professional experience of ten years, out of which at least five years at a senior level of Assistant Professor/Reader, Provided the recognition for significant professional shall be valid only if the same is recommended unanimously by a 3-Member Committee of Experts appointed by the Vice-Chancellor of the University.
