Admissions forms for the professional courses of M.A. (Mass Communication), Bachelor of
Journalism and Post Graduate Diploma in Video Programming (News and Current Affairs)
are now available at the Department of Mass Communication, Rashtrasant Tukadoji
Maharaj Nagpur University.
The Department has produced leading professionals in the field of journalism and mass
communication.
Graduates in any stream may apply for admission to the one-year post graduate degree of
Bachelor of Journalism (B.J.) and the two-year (four-semester) M.A. (Mass Communication)
programmes which prepare students for careers in print, electronic and new media
journalism, advertising and public relations.
Students are trained as newspaper and TV reporters, web content creators and managers,
copy editors, presenters, anchors, news producers, video editors, cinematographers and
cameramen. News writing and reporting, advertisement design and copy-writing, scriptwriting and various formats such as spot interviews, talk shows, interviews, discussions,
game and reality shows, and documentaries are also part of the course content.
Professionals are also created in the rapidly-growing and highly-paid field of Public Relations
and Corporate Communications.
The training is provided by professionals from the industry, including leading television
channels, and senior media persons. The Department has a full-fledged studio with
sophisticated cameras for practical work. Students are also placed with Doordarshan,
private TV channels and leading newspapers and PR organizations for internship and
training.
Sale of application forms and registration for admission is being done between 11.30 am
and 4.30 pm on working days, at the Department’s premises in the University’s Mahatma
Jyotiba Phule Educational (PGTD) Campus on Amravati Road. Entrance tests for the M.A.
and B.J. courses will be held in July. Seats to the Video Programming course will be filled on
‘first come’ basis.
