Scholarship and Financial Aid Organizational Chart The SFA Team and their Responsibilities • SFA Administration-Oversee the mission of the department including directing the scholarship and financial aid programs and staff within the department. • Customer Service - Liaison between students and other SFA units, student counseling, problem resolution, and outreach. • Scholarships - Coordinates all scholarships, state and work study programs • Loans - Certifies and awards loans • Quality Control - Monitors and adjusts aid as well as managing imaging and document processing for example verification. • Accounting – Manage all of the funds ensuring availability and accountability of disbursements. • SFA-IT – Manages the technology within the PeopleSoft Financial Aid Campus Solutions Module. FASFA TASFA University Website Compliance Federal Funds FAFSA Application Verification – An institution must establish and use written policies and procedures for verifying an applicant’s FAFSA information in accordance to federal policy. This includes the time period within which an applicant must provide any documentation requested by the institution, the consequences of an applicant’s failure to provide the requested documentation, the method by which the institution notifies an applicant of the result of its verification and the procedures required by an applicant to correct the FAFSA information determined to be in error. FEDERAL AUDITS: The Department of Education perform institutional reviews related to the administration of the United States federal student financial aid programs. The Higher Education Act (HEA) is the federal law that governs the administration of federal student aid programs. TEXAS STATE AUDITOR’S OFFICE: As a condition of receiving federal funding, the U.S Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Circular A-133 requires non-federal entities that expend at least $500,000 in federal awards in a fiscal year to obtain annual audits. The State of Texas auditors perform the reviews. State Funds The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board – The Texas Education Code requires the Board to periodically conduct audits to determine whether an institution complies with the THECB’s Financial aid statutory requirements. Institutional/Private/Agency Funds University of Houston-MAPP Policy 12.01.01 addresses the criteria for the administration and oversight of college and institutional scholarships and financial aid and are subject to an internal audit.
