Reading Word Recognition SOUND Strategy Strategy: SOUND Appropriate Grade Level: Kindergarten-12th grade Procedures/Steps: This mnemonic strategy helps students remember the steps to follow when they come across a word they don’t know. Sound it out. Open your eyes, and look at the pictures. Use context clues. Now chunk the word. Don’t give up.
