ACADEMIC ADVISING PROCEDURES FOR STUDENTS
Academic Advising for Priority Registration for Spring Semester begins in October and Priority Registration for
Fall Semester starts in March, all students should follow these procedures:

Make an appointment to meet with your academic advisor to select, discuss and approve courses for
the upcoming semester.
o Call the advisor’s office or use the sign-up sheets available in many advisors’ offices or posted
on their doors.
o If you do not know the name of your academic advisor, you may go to the Student services
button on the Student Hub, and click on the “Academic records/Registration Information”
link and then “Student/Advisor Information”.

Check the online schedule of classes and make a preliminary schedule of classes; schedulizer.com is a
good resource for this. When you go to see your academic advisor bring your notes, advisors will
review course selections, sign the registration form and keep one copy.

Check your registration appointment time through the Student Services button on the Student Hub,
and click on the “Registration” link and then “Registration Status” (see below).
o Registration can be done either in person or on line. If you are registering in person, the line
begins in the Registrar’s Office in the Musketeer Mezzanine. You cannot register before the
designated time slot either in person or online.
o If you register online, this registration sheet becomes a “contract” between you and your
advisor about which classes you have agreed to take for the upcoming semester.

Remember:
o Please see the Office of the Registrar’s website to check when the final date for
undergraduates to withdraw from full-term course and for the exam schedule.

Students in the College of Arts and Sciences wishing to change, declare, or add a major or minor
should see Dr. Jim Snodgrass, Associate Dean, to start the process.

Students in the Williams College of Business wishing to change, declare, or add a major or minor
should see Ms. Cindy Stockwell, Assistant Dean of undergraduate programs, to start the process.

Students in the College of Social Sciences, Health, and Education (CSSHE) wishing to declare a major
or change a major should first consult with the new department to start the process.
