MHS Principal Roger Macdonald shared that in an effort to “go green” and to save on costs, the ceramics instructor purchased a machine that recycles clay in order for students to reuse it for future ceramics projects. MHS Assistant Principal Nic Collart gave a thank you to the

MHS students who took the lead and made the 8 th

grade orientation a smooth event.

AHS Principal Dave Navarre shared how busy campus has been. They had a great turnout at the eighth grade activities. Friday night was the AAI Model School event. There was a great turnout with over 700 attendees. The Career and College breakfast was Saturday morning.

Jim Ritter always does a fantastic job. Saturday was the Arcata Sports Auction with a possible net of $10,000. Winter Formal was Saturday night and was held at Baywood Golf

Course. Mr. Navarre noted that the WASC visit yesterday and today was very positive.

Jennifer Berube did a great job leading that.

5.2 2014-15 Audit Report

John Robertson from Robertson & Associates presented on the outcome of our 2014-15 audit review. John shared that staff are always very accommodating. Overall, a very good report for the district.

Superintendent Hartley asked Mr. Robertson to share with the Board the impact on the unfunded pension liability, GASB 68. John shared the impact is really not known as of yet.

Districts could see a lowering in their credit rankings. Executive Director Cindy Vickers shared that we only account for our portion of the unfunded liability.

Mr. Robertson shared that the district had one finding that was due to unduplicated student counts with our free and reduced lunch applications. This is a finding area of 25% of the districts in the state. The district is implementing a plan to correct this in the future.

5.3 Bond Update

Executive Director Dave Lonn shared that we continue to get closer to the completion of the

Fine Arts facility. There are only a few details that are left both inside and out.

5.4 LCAP Update

Superintendent Chris Hartley shared that there are multiple parent surveys out for incoming parents, site councils, and an open survey to anyone on our website. Once we have feedback we’ll look into evaluating our plan and moving forward with updates.
