1. Through the PowerPoint on the Geography of South Africa, choose a province you would
like to visit. Describe what you would find there. Using other resources, add to the
information on the PowerPoint. Note the resources you used. How could this visit add to
your success as a teacher?
2. Through the PowerPoint and Lesson Plans of the Fulbright to South Africa for teachers,
define the perceptions of segregation, creolization, and reconciliation. Indicate how you
could teach these same concepts.
3. Music and dance are a big part of the heritage of South Africans. What did you learn
about the song? Research another song/dance of South Africa and share what you
learned.
4. What benefits do you see for students at WKU learning about the “International Year of”
a country? Students were exposed to food, dance, music, and art (and other cultural
aspects) of Ecuador last year and South Africa this year. How could you do something
similar for your students?
5. What intrigues you most about South Africa? Why? How has your perception changed
since completing this module?
