All PowerUp Student laptops should have the software installed already. The LockDown Browser will prevent students from taking screenshots or switching to other applications during an assessment. It is possible to quit an assessment and restart it, depending on the security options selected. Browser: We recommend using Google Chrome as your recommended browser for students. IE11 will work but Chrome is recommended. Pre-Installed: PowerUp laptops already have the LockDown Browser installed. Clicking on Start, then selecting All Programs, students can find the software installed as PCG Secured Assessment. Go to Start, type in: Software center in the ‘Search programs and files’ field, and search for the software, click on Software Center to open the application. You’ll find PCG Last updated 11/4/2015 Login to EdPlan Using SSO Link Students who want to access EdPlan should be directed to http://www.houstonisd.org/edplan. If a student or teacher has logged into the computer using their HSID network login information, they’ll be automatically logged into EdPlan using their computer login information. If a generic login account has been used to login to the computer, a window will appear asking for their EdPlan username and password. For students, their username will be their HISD network account name and their password will be their studentID number. (Manual login screen) Use SSO link with PowerUp or Logged-in students No Password Required The SSO link will give access to EdPlan based on the credentials of the person logged into the computer. You may see an option to run Adobe Flash. Choose, Run this time, if necessary. Last updated 11/4/2015 Students Find Test with LDB (LockDown Browser) Label First screen of Student login: Select Student At A Glance: Drill Down to Assignments: Students should click on the folder with their name on the left-hand side. Click on Assignments, select a subject area, and review available (blue) assignments. Last updated 11/4/2015 Find available (blue) assignments: Look for assignments with (LDB) titles to find secure assessments. If a student selects an LDB assignment and no window opens, check to see if “pop-up blocking” is turned on. See pop-up details further below. If a white window appears but no assignment or status information appears, check the computer as described on page 1, to see if the LockDown browser software “PCG Secured Assessment” has been installed on the computer. A blank window usually indicates a lack of installed software. Last updated 11/4/2015 Turn off Pop-up Blocker: If you see a small red x in the upper right corner, be sure to click on it and choose the option “Always allow pop-ups from this site” Remember Choice to Launch Application Make sure that you add the option to “Remember my Choice” to avoid this warning again. A LockDown browser window will appear, and may ask that other windows or applications be closed prior to taking the assessment due to security concerns.
