All PowerUp Student laptops should have the software installed already. The LockDown Browser will
prevent students from taking screenshots or switching to other applications during an assessment. It is
possible to quit an assessment and restart it, depending on the security options selected.
Browser: We recommend using Google Chrome as your recommended browser for students. IE11 will
work but Chrome is recommended.
Pre-Installed: PowerUp laptops already have the LockDown Browser installed. Clicking on Start, then
selecting All Programs, students can find the software installed as PCG Secured Assessment.

Login to EdPlan Using SSO Link
Students who want to access EdPlan should be directed to http://www.houstonisd.org/edplan. If a
student or teacher has logged into the computer using their HSID network login information, they’ll be
automatically logged into EdPlan using their computer login information. If a generic login account has
been used to login to the computer, a window will appear asking for their EdPlan username and
password. For students, their username will be their HISD network account name and their password
will be their studentID number.
(Manual login screen) Use SSO link with PowerUp or Logged-in students
No Password Required
The SSO link will give access to EdPlan based on the credentials of the person logged into the computer.
You may see an option to run Adobe Flash. Choose, Run this time, if necessary.

Students Find Test with LDB (LockDown Browser) Label
First screen of Student login: Select Student At A Glance:
Drill Down to Assignments:
Students should click on the folder
with their name on the left-hand
side. Click on Assignments, select a
subject area, and review available
(blue) assignments.

Find available (blue) assignments: Look for assignments with (LDB) titles to find secure assessments. If a
student selects an LDB assignment and no window opens, check to see if “pop-up blocking” is turned on.
See pop-up details further below. If a white window appears but no assignment or status information
appears, check the computer as described on page 1, to see if the LockDown browser software “PCG
Secured Assessment” has been installed on the computer. A blank window usually indicates a lack of
installed software.

If a security window appears, choose Yes or OK.
A LockDown browser window will appear, and may ask that other windows or applications be closed
prior to taking the assessment due to security concerns. Close any recommended applications prior to
launch.
