To increase collaboration with academic departments, particularly WGSS, on programming and service opportunities 2. Maintain contact with program participants 6-12 months after programs to gauge extent to which behavior change and critical thinking on feminist issues has changed Department FY16 Goals: (include all 3. As advisors to the Feminists Student Organization and Sigma Sigma Rho Sorority, build stronger relations with those department goals and DSAES student groups and incorporate service learning events with WRC mission strategic plan mapping) 4. Organize "Student Advisory Committee" to assist with focusing on programs to best meet the student needs 1 DSA Assessment Plan for AY 2014-2015 Program or Services Being Assessed (Assessment Activity #1): $tart $mart Salary Negotiation Workshops Learning Outcome(s) and/or Assessment Activity Objective(s) Students who complete the $tart $mart training will be able to identify gender wage gap and feel confident negotiating for their first salary upon graduation Purpose of Assessment Activity To determine the effectiveness of the workshop in increasing confidence and skills around salary negotiation Method Paper survey consisting of Likert scales and including pre and post test. The outcome will be met if the average score is over 4.1 Frequency / Timeline FY16 Goal(s) Supported After every training, WRC Goals #1, #2 one Fall 2014 and one Spring 2015, toward the end of the semesters when students begin to focus on procuring jobs. Follow ups also given six months after Summary of this activity (to be completed at the end assessment cycle for this activity) Results (i.e. data collected): Assessments were complete during both the Fall 2014 and Spring 2015 workshops. The summary of findings is as follows: 1. There was a larger shift in confidence from "Fairly Confident" for 98% of the participants. 2. Overall, the participants had a general understanding of the Wage Gap as it relates to gender. 3. More seniors were represented during the Spring workshop which was held in May just before graduation, meaning these students were most likely still in the job serach process. Action (i.e. what will change in the department or program as a result of the data collected): 1. Participation was down in the spring, however only one workhsop was offered late in the semester. Action- Implement at least two workshops per semester and have one earlier during the spring as seniors are entering the job search process. 2. Marketing- advertise and market the program to a wider range of colleges and majors. Include various types of marketing tools (social media, email, print materials). 3. Utilize technology for the pre-test- make it more interactive, possibly use Student Response tool. 4. Many seniors were represented, but the information can also be very useful to students during graduate school and students of other classifications- market to more than seniors. 4. Implement a follow-up to see how many students actually utilize the skills learned 2 DSA Assessment Plan for AY 2014-2015 Program or Services Being Assessed (Assessment Activity #2): Sexual Violence Education Programming Learning Outcome(s) and/or Assessment Activity Objective(s) Campus community members take part in programs like "A Question of Consent," "Take Back the Night," and WRC Collaborations with campus partners will have a better understanding of what comprises healthy, sexual consent. Purpose of Assessment Activity Method To foster an environment where all genders feel confident in asserting their own boundaries, stepping in when they see their peers in need of intervention, and de-escalating situations where they have not obtained consent form their partners. Paper Survey consisting of Likert Scales and open-ended questions. Outcome is met if the average score is 3.1 or greater.
