Department Vision Statement: Our vision is acceptance and affirmation for LGBTQ people in every aspect of their UH experience, and a campus where equity and respect for all prevail. 1. We will increase the number of programs that students implement that the director previously implemented. from 0 to 8 this FY. , a. Increase the efficiency of the office operations. 1. Create and implement a Pre-semester Retreat for all professional and staff employees of the LGBT and WGRC. 2c 2. Re-structure the way in which student employees and volunteers are utilized and supervised, including the job descriptions and chain of command, using a student development lense. 2c 3. Create an Ambassador Program that will include collaboration with CSI's Ignite Program to begin in FY17. 1b 4. Assist Intern and Student Orgs to plan and implement Coming Out Monologues for National Coming Out Day. 1c 5. Offer two LGBT Youth Leadership workshops with GLBT Studies Minor Intern. 1c Department FY16 Goals: (include all department goals and DSAES strategic plan mapping) 6. Create a group discussion facilitator training to be implemented in Spring. 1c 2. Apply to SFAC for funds to hire a Program Coordinator in FY17. 2b 3. Develop a baseline of customer service by implementing a Secret Shopper program. 2e 4. Provide educational and support services to a wider range of student populations. a. Student Education Program: Do outreach to fraternaties and sororities, student orgs, residential hall, etc. to do 4 LGBT workshops per year. 1d b. Implement a sexual orientation / gender identity discussion group. 1b c. Refine the mentoring program for LGBT student. 1b d. Front Desk Customer Service Purpose of Assessment Activity To determine which components of customer service that our office does well and those that need improvement. Method Frequency / Timeline We will ask 10 to 12 students who have One time per year in not been to the center before to visit the the fall. center. They will role play various common scenarios and later evaluate the customer service according to our rubric. We will then evaluate the results. Method Student employees will complete a selfassessment / quiz that rates their feelings of team cohesion and ownership of the Centers; and tests their knowledge of job duties and skills. DSAES Assessment Plan for AY 2015-2016 Program or Services Being Assessed (Assessment Activity #3): Mentoring Program Learning Outcome(s) and/or Assessment Activity Objective(s) As a result of participating in the Mentoring program, the negative impact of homophobia or transphobia on the mentee's emotions will be reduced. Purpose of Assessment Activity To determine the effectiveness of the Mentoring Program in reducing the mentees confusion, worry, discomfort, and depression regarding their sexuality. This will be a baseline assessment for this program. Method The mentees will take a pre selfassessment on the application when they enter the Mentor program rating their levels in each of the four areas. After completing the program they will take a post-self-assessment rating their levels in each of the four areas.
