The mission of the Children’s Learning Centers (CLC) is to provide a nationally accredited exemplary early childhood program that supports the
student, staff, and faculty of the University of Houston (UH) while at the same time, encourages UH student success by offering opportunities for
learning, discovery and engagement.
To be a program that: honors the young child and their family; advocates for young children, current research, and the early childhood
profession; and demonstrates a commitment to the University of Houston (UH) and student success. The Children’s Learning Centers wants to
maintain a strong focus on resource management that enables CLC to identify revenue opportunities for building a new (or renovating the
current) centers so that the CLC facility reflects both the University of Houston’s Tier One status and an exemplary early childhood program.
1. CLC will provide student employment and explore options for expanding internship opportunities to help develop learning, thinking, and life
skills that lead to success at the next level. (DSAES 2.c)
2. CLC staff members will participate in a continuous program of professional learning in order to provide the highest quality of customer
satisfaction and educational program to the children of UH Student, Staff, Faculty and Alumni. (DSAES 2.e)
3. CLC will participate in collaborative learning communities to improve instruction and student learning for both children and UH students.

Fall Results: Overall, student employees (49R) receiving an evaluation rating of Excellent or higher was 96% in fall 2014. First semester student employees (18R) receiving an evaluation
rating of Excellent or higher was 89% in fall 2014. The Campus Labs Rubric Score was 83.84 out of 100 points. Spring Results: Overall, student employees (47R) receiving an evaluation
rating of Excellent or higher was 98% in spring 2015. First semester student employees (9R) receiving an evaluation rating of Excellent or higher was 100% in spring 2015. The Campus
Labs Rubric Score was 86.39 out of 100 points. Summer Results: Overall, student employees (30R) receiving an evaluation rating of Excellent or higher was 97% in summer 2015. The
first semester student employee (1R) received an evaluation rating of Good in summer 2015. The Campus Labs Rubric Score was 86.94 out of 100 points.
Action: The Student Employee Development Program entails orientations, trainings, and hands-on learning. From the results of this assessment, the CLC student employees are
demonstrating work ethic/practices that promote professionalism. This was the first semester that the Rubric information was input into Campus Labs. From these results, we were
able to identify the 6 students who are not demonstrating improvement and provide/implement strategies for intervention. We will continue to utilize this assessment in FY16 for
coaching and goal development purposes.

semesters, 96% of the responses in fall 2014 also indicated they strongly/moderately agreed that their skill development had improved as a result of their CLC employment. In fall 2014,
95% of the student leader responses (6R) indicated they strongly/moderately agreed that their skill development had improved as a result of their CLC employment. Spring Results: Of
the respondents (19R) who answered questions in spring 2015 designated for those employed 1 or 2 semesters, 96% of the responses indicated they strongly/moderately agreed that
their skill development had improved as a result of their CLC employment. Of the respondents (15R) who answered questions designated for those employed 3 or more semesters,
98% of the responses in spring 2015 indicated they strongly/moderately agreed that their skill development had improved as a result of their CLC employment. In spring 2015, 90% of
the student leader responses (9R) indicated they strongly/moderately agreed that their skill development had improved as a result of their CLC employment. From fall to spring, 52% of
the responses received a higher rating.
Action: We will continue to utilize this assessment in FY16 for coaching and goal development purposes.

Spring Results: The results are based on CLC student employees who received a Fall evaluation (Assessment Project 1) and completed the Fall Campus Labs Survey (Assessment Project
2). These 30 student employees received a coaching session on the combined assessment results and completed a S.M.A.R.T goal based on the results feedback. The S.M.A.R.T Goal
Rubric results included 23% Excellent Scores and 77% Exemplary Scores.
Action: We will continue this assessment in FY16 as well as add a second assessment evaluating the completion of the goals developed.
