Develop a diversity/inclusion and global education strategy for UH students. ( DSAES Strategic Initiative’s: 3b, 3c, 3e) A. Develop phase two of diversity workshop series that includes three diversity or inclusive related workshops that are offered each semester at various times throughout the year-3e B. Host Fall Speaker Series focusing on social justice advocacy -3b C. Reorganize and host Diversity Institute,one-day conference, that includes a Diversity Luncheon-3b D. Develop a workshop about the undocumentd student experience that is presented several times in the fall and spring semesters-3c 2. Implement measures to retain our highly diverse student population. Implement phase two (increase membership to include incoming students) of the Achievement Initiative for Minority Males program and plan year-long workshops and activities that connects members to campus and community-1d B. Implement Level II student staff experience that connects work/volunteer experience in the office with student’s academic schedule-3b C. Work with selected faculty members to infuse the Center’s diversity programs and initiatives into their curriculum-6a Department FY16 Goals: (include all D. Collaborate with Human Resources to have the Center for Diversity and Inclusion listed as a resource for faculty and staff in Orientation information packets-6b D. Work with Director of Assessment and Planning to create assessment tool for departments in the division to track the inclusiveness of their programs and services-4a E. Increase creative and effective marketing via flyers, social media, and website through out the fall and spring semesters-5b G. In the fall create an internal communication plan for Center’s programs and outreach-5c 4. Create a welcoming and inclusive university environment (DSAES Strategic Initiative 3c,1d) A. Communicate with freshmen and transfer students about diversity on campus and the Center for Diversity and Inclusion to ensure incoming students know about the Center and our programs and services-3c B. Helps retain UH African American and Hispanic male population 2. Develops a sense of campus connectedness for AIMM members 3. Is effective in helping members identify campus resources and faculty to assist with academic success Method 1. Check participants grades through peoplesoft 2. Participants self report through a baseline survey to determine if participants feel better connected to campus 3. Track the number of students who visit the Center and number of organizations that reserve the Center for programs or meetings 2. To understand if our marketing outreach has created awareness about the Center 1. Center for Diversity and Inclusion staff will record who visits the Center and who reserves space for events 2.
