CROSSING GUARDS
Bush Elementary is very fortunate to
have numerous crossing guards
assigned to the streets close to
school. Cross the streets only where
the crossing guards are stationed.
Drivers must be extremely careful
when driving around Bush and follow
the directions from the crossing
guards. Crossing guards have a very
important and difficult job. Practice
and teach your child safe habits by
using the crossing guards to cross
streets.

BOBCAT NEWS
CONGRATULATIONS, MRS. HIME!
The Teacher of the Year for the 20132014 school year is Mary Hime. Mrs.
Hime began her teaching career at
Barbara Bush Elementary in 2010. This
is her fourth year teaching first grade.
Mrs. Hime’s journey to Bush
Elementary began at the University of
Houston where she majored in
elementary education. After graduating,
she was thrilled to join the first grade
team at Bush Elementary as a first-year
teacher. She has cherished the
opportunity to learn from the best here
at Bush Elementary. Mrs. Hime has
been heard saying, “This school has
captured my heart!” She has captured
ours, too! In July of 2011, “Miss
McAdams” became “Mrs. Hime” when
she married her husband, Clint Hime,
whom she met in college. She enjoys
spending time with her family and
friends as well as her dog, Sawyer.
Mrs. Hime is honored to have been
chosen as this year’s Teacher of the
Year.

International Festival & Fundraiser
Saturday, April 26, 2014, 1pm - 4pm
ALL THE BETTER TO SEE YOU WITH…
If your child has lost his/her eyeglasses, please stop by
the office and check out the eyeglass lost and found
box.
NURSE’S RULE
Please do not send your sick child to school.
If your child has fever, pink eye, or an upset
stomach, please keep him or her home. We
have lots of folks under our roof every day.
For the health and safety of all students, it is
very important that children stay home when
they are ill. Students who have thrown up
during the night or who are running a fever
cannot be sent to school. Students must be
fever free for 24 hours without feverreducing medication before returning to
school. When your child returns to school,
please send a signed note stating the days your
child was absent and the reason for the
absence.
PROSPECTIVE PARENT
INFORMATION SESSIONS
Do you have a child coming to Bush next year?
Come and join a prospective parent information
session that will answer all your questions
about Bush Elementary programs and
curriculum. We will tour the school and
discuss all of the wonderful things Bush has to
offer. If you know a neighbor or friend who
would like to attend one of these information
sessions, please pass the invitation on to them.
The next session for this school year will take
place at 9:00 a.m. on February 26.
The Bush Elementary International Festival and Fundraiser is set for Saturday, April 26th, 2014 from 1pm4pm, and we need your help! Next week we will be sending home a questionnaire to all families to help us capture the “world of opportunities. ” Questions such as: What country(s), besides the U.S., is important to your family history? What is the native language(s)? What are some interesting/fun facts? What are some favorite foods? In addition, we will be asking for parent/family volunteers to help us organize and make family favorite recipes from abroad so everyone can enjoy. With your help, the International Festival & Fundraiser promises to be enjoyable and fun for all. Thank you for your support! Suggestions or Questions: email
