HANDBOOK HIGHLIGHTS
BIKE RIDERS
For the safety of walkers and bike riders,
students must walk beside their bikes at all
street crossings up to the bike rack. Bike
riders must also walk their bikes on all
sidewalks adjacent to Bush Elementary to
and from school.
BIRTHDAY BOOK CLUB
At Bush, we have found a super way to
celebrate birthdays and to support our love
for reading. Students may select and
purchase a book to be donated to the library.
Birthday book club members get their names
announced during morning announcements and
get their pictures taken and displayed with
the books they donated.

RED RIBBON WEEK 2014
This week is celebrated nation-wide to remember fallen DEA
agent Enrique Camarena and his fight to eradicate drugs. The
theme this year is “I ‘Mustache’ You Not To Do Drugs.” There are
only two more days to celebrate Red Ribbon Week here at Bush
Elementary. Participation is optional.
Thursday, Oct. 23 – I am “Paws”itively Drug Free!
Wear your favorite Bush Bobcat T-Shirt.
Friday, Oct. 24 – I am a “Jean”ius for being Drug Free!

CALLING ALL 5TH GRADE PARENTS
The Baylor College of Medicine Academy at
Ryan M.S. will be at Bush Elementary on
Thursday, October 30, at 11:45 a.m. to speak
with 5th grade students about their Magnet
Program. Please see the flyer sent home today
in your child’s communication folder for more
information. Interested 5th grade parents are
welcome! ALL parents, who wish to enter
the school will need to have a valid stateissued driver’s license or a valid stateissued picture ID.
PROSPECTIVE PARENT INFORMATION
SESSIONS
Do you have a child coming to Bush next year?
Then come and join a prospective parent
information session that will answer all your
questions about Bush Elementary programs and
curriculum. We will tour the school and discuss all
of the wonderful things Bush has to offer. If you
know a neighbor or friend who would like to attend
one of these information sessions, please pass the
invitation on to them. The next session for this
school year will take place at 9:00 a.m. on
Wednesday, November 12.
COMMUNITY NEWS
ST. JOHN PAUL II
St. John Paul II Catholic School will be holding
its Annual Run with the Saints Memorial 5K race
on Saturday, November 1 at 8:00 a.m. If anyone
is interested in donating, volunteering, or
registering for the run, more information can be
