Social Justice and Nonprofit INDUSTRY FAST FACTS from the Hiatt Career Center EMPLOYMENT 1 in 3 Brandeis graduates enter fields of service including government, nonprofit and public health. Undergraduate students average three internships before graduation. The Hiatt Career Center provides funding for 30 unpaid summer internships focused on social justice. ACADEMICS Social justice and community service are integral to Brandeis’ mission, unique perspective, and Jewish traditions. Over 1,000 undergraduates across all majors are interested in service-related or social justice careers. 500+ graduate students pursue master’s of business administration in nonprofit management, master’s of public policy, or related master’s or Ph.D. degrees at the Heller School for Social Policy and Management. STUDENT INVOLVEMENT The Hiatt Career Center co-sponsors two annual events each attended by 200+ students to raise awareness for careers and organizations that make a positive impact on society, including: Social Impact Job, Internship & Volunteer Fair • ’DEIS Impact Festival of Social Justice There are over 260+ active student-run clubs, 50 are focused on leadership, activism and service; the Waltham Group is the largest with 650+ students volunteering weekly at 15+ local organizations. Since 2008, 37+ students have participated in the AmeriCorps Student Leaders in Service Program, completing over 300 hours of service in one year.
