The festival will end with our annual Lantern Walk! An annual tradition for the Wilson community, the festival is a fundraiser for the Parent-Teacher Organization. The Wilson PTO helps the school by paying fees for conferences and funding special projects on the campus like Urban Harvest and our fine arts/music courses. Please Join Us for Lunch! Wilson Montessori School will be celebrating Thanksgiving with our students, teachers, parents and community on Tuesday, November 24th and we hope that you are able to join us! We will have additional tables available in the courtyards and classrooms for our guests in order to make sure everyone has a place at the table. Please know that it is important to us that you are able to eat with your child, but it equally as important that your child be reunited with his/her class at the end of the lunch period. Please do not take your child from the cafeteria or classroom without notifying school personnel and filling out the appropriate paperwork. Please make sure to read the invitation and complete the ticket order form if you would like to attend. The pre-order form for tickets should be returned to the main office and the main office will distribute tickets as they are ordered. As always please check in with the main office before you enter the cafeteria or go to your child’s classroom. The lunch schedule for Tuesday has been altered, so if you plan to join us, please make sure to look at the schedule so you can be here at the correct time! We look forward to seeing you! Helpfulness is being of service. It is doing useful things for people, such as things they cannot do for themselves, something they do not have time to do, or just little things that make life easier. It is important to be helpful to ourselves too, by taking care of our bodies. There are many opportunities to volunteer in Houston and even at our own school. How could you volunteer to be helpful? Our virtue of the week for next week is thankfulness. Thankfulness is being grateful for what you have. It is an attitude of gratitude for learning, loving. And being. It is appreciating the little things which happen around you and within you every day. Tip of the Week There are a number of ways that you can maximize your child's learning capabilities throughout the school year. Some of these strategies include: *Assisting your child with homework and ensuring that your child is completing all homework assignments. *Ensuring that your child has good attendance at school. Mr. Awesome’s Science Corner! Mining Sunlight *Staying in communication with your child's teacher. This week in science we will be exploring renewable and fossil fuels. Students will learn how humans power our society with energy from today’s sun and from sunlight captured long ago. Be sure to ask your children about their ideas for powering our world! Words to watch for: Carbon Dioxide, Coal, Energy, Fossil Fuel, Hydropower, Natural Gas, Nuclear, Oil, Renewable Resource, Solar, Sunlight, Wind Page 2 The Paw Print
