The decade of the 1960's is sometimes called "The Decade of Protest"
Young people in particular were questioning sociefy's values
Protests arose over nuclear armament, war, American interference in
Canadian affairs, and rights for social $oups including Native peoples
and African Canadians
Other social protests in the 1960's centered on university campuses
There were sit-ins and marches as students demanded more say in
'running schools
Many young people were idealistic and truly wanted to make
contribution to the world
