Co-op Placements at PLASP Child Care Services
For all placement opportunities, students must:
 Be enrolled in secondary school and participating in the co-op program
 Complete an interview with PLASP
 Complete PLASP’s Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check (to be complete after
interview)
 Participate in a PLASP Orientation and other training workshops
 Be responsible for his/her own transportation to and from the placement
 Be available Monday to Friday (except Dual Credit and Integration days)
 Be at the placement 10 minutes before the start time and arranged finish time
 Have excellent organizational and communication skills
 Become part of the staff team and develop a good relationship with staff
Position: PLASP Head Office - 60 Courtney Park Drive West: (2 positions) : An administrative
assistant placement in the PLASP Head Office with exposure to various departments including;
Marketing, IT, Program, Volunteer, Fundraising and administration
Time:
 Full day (9:00 am – 5:00 pm), or Half Day – Typically Afternoon (12:30 pm – 5:00 pm)
Best Suited To:
 Students looking for experience in an office environment
 Students interested in learning about and assisting with general office duties
 Student with a specific interest in one department (e.g. IT or Volunteer Management)
 Students enrolled in Business SHSM or Non-Profit SHSM
 Note: there is no interaction with children in the PLASP office
Position: Nursery School at St. Matthew ELCCC and St. Edith Stein ELCCC: (2 positions)
Students will interact directly with toddler and pre-school age children and join in their play
Time:
 St Matthew Early Learning and Child Care Center – 8:30 am to 11:00 am
 St. Edith Stein Early Learning and Child Care Centre – 9:00 am to 11:30 am
Best Suited To:
 students looking for hands on experience working with PLASP’s youngest children (under 4 years
old)
 2 credit students
Position: After School Programs with Kindergarten or School Age Children: (multiple positions
available in Mississauga and Brampton) Students will interact directly with either kindergarten (4 & 5
years old) or school age children (6 – 12 years of age) in the recreational after school time
Time:
 From school dismissal (approximately 3:15 pm to 6:00 pm)
Best Suited To:
 students considering a career working with children of elementary school age children (4 to 12
years of age)
 1 - 2 credit students
 may be combined with a before school program for additional hours (7:30 to school start)
 can be combined with a daytime classroom co-op to complete hours for 3 -4 credits
