The student must:
• Be a resident of the City of Brampton
• Be responsible for his/her own transportation to the placement
• Be available as per his/her placement dates
 2 credit students – afternoons – times to be determined (½ day)
 4 credit students – full days, times to be determined (full day)
• Be at least 16 years of age to apply*
• Apply for a Criminal Record Check before the start of the placement and submit copies
when received
• Complete any additional training as scheduled prior to starting his/her placement
• Attend a one-day training session (date to be announced)
• Complete prior to placement:
o Passport to Safety
o Worker Health and Safety Awareness in 4 Steps
o Emergency First Aid
All positions with Public Services:
• Must enjoy working with people
• Excellent organizational and communication skills
• Ability to work in a team setting
• Ability to communicate well – through verbal and written communications
• Ability to follow direction
• Ability to think quickly and modify activities as needed
• Will work with the various staff in programs, classes or services
• Students must dress appropriately for the position they are volunteering for.
*Please note – some positions will require additional personal protective clothing (i.e. work boots) and
some positions will require students to be 17 years of age.
