 Posted 3/01/2010 Ramos Wins 2010 NACCS­Tejas Book Award Dr. Raúl A. Ramos was recently announced the winner of the inaugural 2010 NACCS­Tejas Book Award for Beyond the Alamo: Forging Mexican Ethnicity in San Antonio, 1821­1861 (Chapel Hill: University of North Carolina Press, 2008). The NACCS‐
Tejas Book Award Commit tee lauded Ramos as "a talented storyteller" who puts "Mexican Americans at the center" of a key moment in Texas history. The National Association for Chicana and Chicano Studies (NACCS) Tejas Foco and its NACCS‐Tejas Book Award Committee presented the award on February 26, 2010. Dr. Ramos is a member of the History Department faculty at the University of Houston. Beyond the Alamo was also awarded the T.R. Fehrenbach Book Award from the Texas Historical Commission in 2009. The History Department faculty is delighted to celebrate Dr. Ramos' latest accomplishment.
