 At November 2015 meeting, CCCCA Team set goals for 3 areas of focus for 2015-2016 school
year to improve the sense of community and belonging at Father C.W. Sullivan
i. Faith Focus: Plan an in-school half-day or retreat for all grades across the school
focused on the Ontario Catholic School Graduate Expectations (OCSGE)
 half-day retreat held in the afternoon of March 8th (same day as Lenten
Mass); wonderful success and activities were enjoyed by entire school
community
 3 themes for retreat activities: Lent, Year of Mercy & OCSGE
 Similar retreats likely to continue in to 2016-2017 school year and beyond
ii. Community & Belonging Focus: Explore opportunities to enhance students’
feelings of a “welcoming and caring” community at Father C.W. Sullivan
 Dan reiterated initiatives already occurring within the school in this regard
(e.g., Anti-Bullying lesson from ROP, Virtues/OCSGE assemblies, Gotcha
awards)
 School will continue to capitalize on various opportunities to build
community and prevent bullying through various activities throughout the
school year
 Creating Pathway to Success initiatives will also support community
development and strengthen transitions for students year-to-year
 Two unique opportunities occurred on February 12th: Junior NBA day for
Grade 8 students and Rings & Rocks program for Grade 2/3 to 6/7 students;
both experiences were enjoyed by students

Upcoming events include Track & Field Day on May 11th for Grades 4-8
students and school-wide Play Day on June 21st (activities to be enhanced
this year through efforts of Catholic School Council)
iii. Health & Wellness Focus: OPHEA Healthy Schools Certification
 Involves continuation of programs such as PALS and school-wide “Play
Day”; play day scheduled for June 21st; theme TBA
 Pursuit of OPHEA Healthy Schools certification; initiative headed up by
Amanda D. & Veronica, with support from Amanda R.
- Amanda D. provided a brief update of certification process and
current plan; a “Gold” certification is a possibility!
- Dan thanked Veronica, Amanda D. & Amanda R. for their efforts
and support of this initiative
- Moving forward in to 2016-2017, a student-driven committee will
work to include PSAs about Active & Healthy Living and launching
“Fun Fit Friday” physical activities for the whole school
 Father C.W. Sullivan continues to engage with the Region of Peel & City of
Brampton for the Peel School Travel Planning Program
- Program promotes safe and healthy transportation to school
- Student walkabout with Region of Peel and City of Brampton staff
occurred in December 2015; community survey completed in
January 2016 (data currently being analyzed)
- Amanda R. shared STP report with committee and indicated that
good progress has been made this year and that this plan will guide
the STP in to 2016-2017 (see attached report)
- City of Brampton report provided by Violet indicates that marked
crosswalk will be placed at “T-intersection” of Pennywood Road
and Seaborn Road likely in the fall of 2016

as speed studies, additional pavement markings, etc., have been
forwarded to City of Brampton Traffic Services and are marked for
action within the 2016 calendar year
