Walking In The Light Of Christ
“I am the Light of the World” Jesus
Proclaimed and added that
“whoever follows me will never walk in
darkness but will have the light of life”
(John 8:12)
Each year the Catholic community of Ontario
engages in a week-long celebration of the
unique identity and distinctive contributions of
Catholic education during Catholic Education
Week. This year’s celebration is entitled Catholic Education: Walking in the Light of Christ.
The scriptural theme is ‘Your word is a lamp to
my feet and a light to my path’ taken from the
book of Psalms (119:105). Jesus proclaims, I am
the Light of the World” (John 8:12). Our Catholic schools rejoice to walk in that Light, “ a
Light which overcomes the darkness with its
radiance” (Matthew 4:16).
Catholic Education Week begins on a Sunday to highlight the partnership that remains the foundation of Catholic education
between our Catholic schools and local
Catholic parishes. Throughout Catholic Education Week, we ask you to reflect on the
significance of Catholic education’s presence and contribution in our Church, and in
our society. We invite all members of our
community, to participate in the celebrations and activities that will mark the celebration of Catholic Education Week 2012 in
our school.
God Calls Us to
His Church
The staff and
students of Our
Lady of Mercy School would like to
extend a special congratulations to
our Grade 2 students who received the Sacrament of the
Eucharist for the first time on Saturday April 21, 2012. This was a
very special time for these students and their families and our
thoughts and prayers were with
them.
Are You Moving??
It is already that time of year when we
begin to organize for the coming September. If you are planning to move
at the end of June, 2012, please let
the office know.
We will begin issuing transfer papers
for students leaving our school at the
beginning of May.
Transfer papers are requested when
you register at a new school to help
with the transfer of student documentation. It also allows us to plan better
for Our Lady of Mercy.
Thank you for your cooperation.
