Introduction
The PrismaView™ management application software gives network managers the
ability to monitor and control Prisma™ MediaCenter™ products.
PrismaView can function as a standalone simple network management protocol
(SNMP) management application, or can integrate with Hewlett-Packard
OpenView Network Node Manager (NNM).
There are also versions of PrismaView that run as a web server to enable network
management from a standard web browser.
Purpose
This document provides instructions for installing PrismaView network
management application software under a Windows or Unix (or Unix-type)
operating system.
Qualified Personnel
Only appropriately qualified and skilled service personnel should attempt to
install, operate, maintain, and service this product.

Transmission Equipment
If this manual discusses software, the software described is used to monitor or
control our and other vendors’ electrical and optical equipment designed to transmit
video, voice, or data signals. Certain safety precautions should be observed when
operating equipment of this nature.
For equipment specific safety requirements, refer to the appropriate section of the
equipment documentation.
For safe operation of this software, refer to the following warnings.

Ensure that all optical connections are complete or terminated before
using this equipment to remotely control a laser device. An optical or laser
device can pose a hazard to remotely located personnel when operated
without their knowledge.

Allow only personnel trained in laser safety to operate this software.
Otherwise, injuries to personnel may occur.

Restrict access of this software to authorized personnel only.
Install this software in equipment that is located in a restricted access area.

Microsoft IE 4.0 or higher installed (does not have to be default browser)
Microsoft Internet Information Server (IIS) required for Web Server version
Java Versions
25 MB Free Disk Space (Full Installation), 64 MB RAM
Any operating system capable of running Java. (i.e., Windows 98 or above,
Solaris, Linux)
Java Runtime version 1.3 or higher
Strongly Recommended
128 MB RAM
650 MHz or faster processor
17" monitor with 1024 x 768 or higher resolution

Note: If a previous version of PrismaView is installed on the management machine,
remove all files before proceeding.
Complete the following steps to install PrismaView software for Windows.

Insert the PrismaView CD into your CD-ROM drive (usually drive D:). The
installation utility launches automatically.
If the installation utility does not launch automatically, perform the following
alternate steps:
a
Using the Windows Start menu, choose Start, Run, and then Browse.
b
Locate the PrismaView installation file launch.exe in the CD-ROM directory.
c
Click Open.

In the Run dialog box, click OK.
The PrismaView installation wizard opens.

Click Install Products, and then click the button that applies to the PrismaView
product that you wish to install. The applicable installation program launches
and guides you through the remaining steps of installation.
Note: In addition to PrismaView installations, the CD-ROM also contains
installations for HubControl 32 and iConfig.

Installing PrismaView on Unix (or Equivalent)
The PrismaView CD-ROM contains the following installation file in the \Bin\Java
directory:
PrismaView_Java_1_8.2.tar is the installation file for the PrismaView Java
standalone application 1.8.2 or higher. Prismaview_readme is the accompanying
"readme" file.
PrismaView_Java_Servlet_1_8_2.tar is the installation file for the PrismaView
Servlet. PrismaView_servlet_readme is the accompanying "readme" file.
Copy these files to a local directory and follow the instructions in the applicable
"readme" file.
If you are unsure which version of PrismaView software is right for you, please
contact customer support. Refer to For Information (on page 7) for contact
information.
